So I finally saw Ready Player 1 for the first time this weekend! Had a movie night with some friends from out of town who have been waiting to experience my little theater, so figured what better movie than the one I've heard from multiple ppl say it's this year's best reference movie for Audio quality, Picture quality, and Bass.....and omg it was everything you all have said it was!!

I know I'm late but I'll always be late compared to most of you so get used to it lol. I watch all my movies around bass reference but after that race scene I was thinking maybe I should dial the mv back 2db for that big explosion I've read about lol. Even tho I had high expectations it still surpassed them!

In the past month I've watched the WWZ grenade scene and the WOTW pod emergence scene, and in my opinion it passes them all. I could be wrong and the graphs can probably prove that but the length of that explosion intensifies it so much!

Anyways, it was a great movie night for the 6 of us and we couldn't have chosen a better movie!

Thanks for the reminder, I had it in mind. Unfortunately, Amazon MX messed up my orders, and charged twice for the items. Essentially, they left me without money for my other purchases. By the time Sicario 2 hit 10 bucks, I had no money left in my account. I'm pissed of beyond words. The real kicker? They're not shipping my oders by lack of funds. I need to get this sorted out with my bank.

That's weird. Is amazing rules different in Mexico? You should be able to cancel or modify your order and get the money back into your bank account or Amazon account immediately. I'm sorry to hear that happened because that's some crap that would ruin my day for sure.

Things are different with banks here. I don't get instant refunds, unless I'm using Amazon Gift Cards or Amazon Cash. It's the first time this has happened to me (double charges), but it's a known issue with Amazon MX...and they chose exactly the right time to f..me up. I think I will be able to recover some orders, but others will go down the toilet.

They didn't exactly ruined my day, but I was in a middle of a movie session yesterday night, when all this happened. Between contacting Amazon and the bank, which was time-consuming, I wasn't in the mood to watch any more movies.

BTW, I like your new Transformers signature. I love those movies. Looking forward to the Bumblebee one, let's hope the new director can keep up with the awesomeness, hahaha.

Question about the movie The Cabin in the Woods Dolby Atmos vs DTS-HD Master Audio.

At the very last scene where the giant hand slammed down, I was not able to hear the enormous bass with Dolby Atmos. But with DTS-HD Master Audio, the windows cracked in my room. Did they mess up the last scene for this 4K movie? There was absolutely no bass at all when the hand came down.

Many movies seem to have weaker bass with Dolby than DTS (Top Gun) and to be honest I have no idea why would they do that.

Hmmmm... these respective graphs seem to tell a different story...

The Cabin In The Woods (Dolby Atmos) ---> Dotted Line

The Cabin In The Woods (DTS-HD MA 7.1)

UPDATE: Hold on for a bit... I just read that the above graph is of the lossy Netflix rental from Database. Let me dig up that movie and graph it with the latest version of BEQdesigner so we can at least have similar looking graphs!

I will have to give it another try later. Maybe because my subwoofers can only go down at 16hz. With Dolby Atmos, I see single digits, am I reading that graph correct for the Dolby Atmos?

I am using bluray physical disc and 4k physical disc.

You beat me to it. The way the post is worded on Data-bass suggest the graph is from lossy DD.5.1, but I think the graph you posted is the updated graph. But... we'll find out when you post the updated graph. In any case, the graph show interesting differences which could result in a different overall experience. The huge peak at 32hz in the ATMOS is still there, but a bit lower in level. Other frequencies, though, seem higher in level, and there are differences in the average line. I think most likely the ATMOS mix is a different master from the DTS-MA. Hate when that happens, but apparently that's the norm now.

Has anyone else listened to the new ATMOS mix and can confirm that last huge scene lacks weight?

I listened to the Atmos version a while back and that whole movie rocked my damn house! I literally thought it was going to crack my windows!

This audio thing may take a while since the Blu-ray is in multiple M2TS files and BEQdesigner doesn't work with MPLS files so I have to use CloneBD to get it into a single M2TS and so on and so forth.

And now I just realized I should've used tsMuxer!

Yeah, despite the possible differences between mixes, it'd be highly dubious they messed up the impact of that last scene.

And man, I think we often forget all the hard work/time that's behind making these graphs. Your effort is appreciated.

I am not saying there was not bass in the Dolby Atmos version 4k disc, it's the last scene with the giant hand slam. The bass just wasn't as strong compare to the DTS-HD MA 7.1 version. But I like the picture quality of the 4K disc.

Yes, the giant hand slam is at the top left of the Peak Spectrum graph where it's the uppermost bright yellow line below 20Hz.

The fact that this movie hits -15 at 40hz and carries it almost down to 18hz where it hits almost -12db, makes me wonder if watching it at a lower volume than usual is recommended? I don't think I've seen a chart before where almost the whole movie is that hot! Or maybe I'm wrong?
