Nice! That’s definitely a huge upgrade, and you’ll have a ton more output and TR across their bandwidth, hopefully you’ll play them loud. Amazing you can do that with DIY for less than the cost of an SB13. Get your demos ready!

Speakers: PSA MTM-210T x2, MTM-210C, MT-110SR x2; Atmos-SVS Satellite x2, DIY Volt-10 x2

MA’s: Crowson Tech x2
Processing: Denon X4200, NU6KDSP, 3KDSP

Off topic, but perhaps some of you could be into this. If you want to look into movie reviews with a new light, check out the following Pitch Meeting series, which are very funny and entertaining:

I love the DTS-MA mix. I know many people find it unpolished and and harsh to the ears, but I didn't have an issue with it. On the other hand, the ATMOS mix is said to be a reference track for ATMOS systems. I hate double dipping, but I really liked this film.

I gotta say, I just compared the two tracks back to back and found the DTS-MA mix had quite a lot more ULF rumble in my theater compared to the Atmos mix. I was surprised about the difference honestly.

Thanks for the follow up to my rather old question. I think graphs for both posted and compared, and they were very similar, but I do remember a talk on data-bass that said that the ATMOS mix was indeed lacking in bass compared to the DTS-MA, but overall the ATMOS mix was better, again, just by comparison. I love the regular DTS-MA track.

Streaming has the low end just chopped right off. Not saying streaming can't sound pretty good cause I was impressed with season one of lost in space but I can only imagine how it might sound on disc cause it had some great bass just streaming.

It’s exactly why I’ve always gone for the disk in the past. But sometimes I’ll take a chance, and it works ok, but other times NOT!! I was hoping this one would be one that worked... I’ve been eyeing Venom too, but I’ll just go buy it.

Thanks for the graphs, Aron. Yes, they're very close, but definitely not the same. The DTS-MA has some hotter spots (10:00-15:00 around 20hz) and slightly more infrasonics at some spots (15:00-20:00 0-15hz, although low in level). The ATMOS has the edge in a few spots, notably near the beginning, and close to 01:05.00, for example.

Granted, for all intent and purposes they're the same, but I can see why someone could note some differences, the closer one listens to reference. Not trying to be argumentative or anything, but I clearly see some differences, so it wouldn't be accurate to say they're the same.

My god,OVERLORD intro is one of the best intro in the past few years,I can almost feeling the AA gun firing on me because my floor was keeping shaking plus that beautiful explosion sound effect and it's not only the intro was DONE right. The gun fire and punch comes with excellent low-mid bass and the final explosion scene is insane too. Although it's not the HK low-bass style but it is still one of the demo worthy disc. No wonder Ralph also give OVERLORD for 100 as well.

This year is really become a greatest bass year so far,We have HK,TCP,OVERLORD all are very demo worthy disc and look at that Spider-man graph.Plus the Aquaman will be released next month and Bumblebee is coming at April also the one of best bass feast Black Hawk Down is coming at may. jesus I can't wait for those any soon.

I rented it on Vudu. It’s a very loud movie. Seems I had to turn it down by 4-5 clicks on the Yamaha in comparison to my normal movie watching.

I agree, the bass hits from 10:00 to 15:00 are louder in the DTS-MA mix. The rest seem the same, or at least close enough that the difference probably just lies in bucketing for display or a slight overall volume difference.

A few folks are complaining that the new DTS:X mix on How to Train Your Dragon 4K "lacks bass" compared to the Dolby TrueHD mix. I looked at the PvA graphs and it appears that the average line for the DTS:X mix is down about 5-7db from the Blu-ray. Is it just a case of "low master volume" or do the peak spectrum graphs suggest differently?

All of those are great options, so go with what genre you and your friend will prefer and find the most entertaining.

Hurricane Heist was one of my favorite full bandwidth bass mixes last year with no EQ needed, but it is pretty cheesy with fairly low production value but a brutal bass track throughout (not memorable for its soundtrack), not that The Meg doesn’t have its own cheese factor depending on your tastes.

I’m finishing up Overlord now, and it’s a little silly and derivative story wise and very gory/violent with crazy good ULF, but that’s with BEQ to bring up a ton of the <20Hz content that’s chopped off.

Hunter Killer is also full bandwidth like Hurricane Heist but IMO a much better movie with an awesome use of underwater effects and ULF; the musical score didn’t stand out to me because the tension from the excellent bass and sound mixing alone were enough to help it shine.

Upgrade is on my to watch list still and seems fairly unique among these films; it got good reviews and seemed to surprise a lot of people as a well rounded film but maybe the least amount of bass among this list judging by the graph.

TCP just arrived in the mail today, so I can’t comment yet but plenty of people have and the graph doesn’t lie. It has some of hardest hitting bass around down to ~17Hz. If sci-fi or cyber-punk is your thing, that’s an easy choice along with Upgrade.

I think I liked this movie more than my 7 year old (and he loved it)! It was just very well done with a unique take on the art direction and genre and one of my favorite animated movies in a long time. If the bass track is as good or even better than the lossy preview, it’s a must watch!

I actually listened to the whole soundtrack a few times with my son as well, we’re fans.

I never had kids and I watch them all the time (animated movies). I guess they're a nice change of pace from the usual stuff I watch and also it started in the early 2000's when modern computer animated movies were starting out because I enjoyed seeing the tech blossom as far as the details etc they could create. I don't watch everything but certain movie series for sure are fun like Shrek, despicable me/minions, ice age, Madagascar.

+1^^

Ok thanks for the push lol. I was always intrigued with the trailer on how unique it was animated.
