Hi, for the first time, perhaps ever in my life (I am 67), I have seen for some reason every movie that was nominated for best picture (most years I see none or maybe one). So, I had Roma left on the list and watched it. To my surprise I actually liked it, in particular the cinematography. I like the director ok too, so that was an added reason to watch it. Now I can in good conscience complain loudly when the best picture award goes to a movie I don't approve of. Like voting so you can complain about the result! Did you watch it long enough to get the great bass at 51 minutes?

That's a great blurb to put on the BD cover:

"Watch enough to get at the 51 minute mark!! If you were asleep, you're in for a surprise!"

Well my used PSA S3000is arrived today. Got them setup and moved my XS-30se behind the seats. They sound freaking fantastic. One of the clips I tried is Edge of Tomorrow intro. That didn't go so well. It sounded awesome and things were certainly vibrating with a whole lot of feel but at -20 my circuit breaker tripped. I had to turn that down to -30 to make all the way through. Another I played was Ready Player One. The big blast towards the end the circuit breaker did survive. I also played the beginning of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. Circuit breaker also survived that. This upgrade has given me the sound and the tactile response I was craving.

Based on the recommendation here I watched The Cloverfield Paradox yesterday. Very aggressive sound and bass was freakin amazing, movie was forgettable though. The other recent movie that had similar audio that came to my mind was Overlord, good movie worth owning just for the audio alone.

Samsung UN65JS8500, Onkyo TX-NR747, Oppo UDP-203, Samsung UBD-K8500, Focal speakers, SVS dual subs.

So finally you managed to watch hunter killer . I had similar issues playing <10HZ movie files on my funk 18.0, I was advised to lower the Input level inside ALLDSP. If you are interested I can recommend few movies for you to test and the time stamps this movies were played with BEQ being applied. Maybe we can discuss this in official funk thread

No issues with my dual Funk 18.0's

I'm using the "No EQ" preset, 0.0 level in AllDSP
My AVR sub trim level at -6 (Yamaha) I usually go no higher than -10 MV

Very close to reference levels and also applying BEQ

Just select "desktop view" on page settings if you're watching on phone or tablet. You'll get a high def image.

Consider the second one ordered. Always looked at it , but thought it wasn't my cup of tea. To many of you praise it so,,, it's a done deal, time to get off the pot. I'll post once it arrives. Several other movies i would have never ordered turned out to be some of my favorites thanks to you. I suspect this will be another. Cheers!!!

Second night with my new to me S3000is. I was really impressed with How to Train a Dragon recently so I popped that in for a bit. I watched the beginning and end action sequences. Listened to the same -10 level I usually watch movies. Bass was less boomy yet more tactile. Exactly what I was going for spending the money. Next was Hunter Killer. I enjoyed the movie more than I thought I would. It was a good story well done. The video quality in 4K on my OLED was just gorgeous. Again at -10 and the bass was excellent. You could just feel the weight in those underwater shots of the submarine. And to close the evening out A Star is Born. Music was good and every drum beat was a punch in the seat. Again at -10. I get tomorrow afternoon off as well so Bohemian Rhapsody is on tap.

Congrats!! Glad you're loving your new subs

One thing I did was upgrade 2 of the breakers in my breaker box to 20A. I have 2 APC power conditioners, and each one is now on a separate 20A breaker. I never actually tripped a breaker when I was running everything on a single 15A........but why take the chance?

Hardest part is sourcing the correct (new 20A) breakers for your model of breaker box. The breakers themselves are cheap. To REALLY do it correctly you should also then upgrade the wire from your breaker box to the room.....but *cough* I haven't done that yet. If you're REALLY drawing power to capacity, you might be risking a fire hazard by not also upgrading the wire itself; but in my case, I shouldn't be anywhere close.

Star Trek: Discovery season 2, episode 6 "The Sounds of Thunder"

I always add +6dB on my sub to give it a big more punch.
as per usual i go in cold without any previews at the
end of each episode and this one did not disappoint.

This episode was the most intense I've ever seen in any star trek to series or movie!.
It's intense horror and the sound design is actually scary.
the sounds are terrifying and shook me up and gave me the feeling i felt in First Man (2018) rocket launch.
I highly recommend watching this episode because it's a MUST see asap!. Also you will love the cinematography,
atmosphere and set design along with something else you just have to see and hear.
The ending sets up for something truly big and dangerous beyond anything Star Trek has ever faced.

Joshua,

I'm glad you're enjoying your S3000i's. Personally, I think mine were the best audio or video purchase I've made in my life! And subsequently, with regard to bass, I honestly want for nothing. As a matter of fact, I've become more reserved on the volume ever since The Cloverfield Paradox scared the crap out of me!
