Watched Aquaman last night, streamed from Vudu. I really liked the movie and thought the bass was excellent as were the visuals. Two thumbs up for me.

OA on Netflix. Holy sh$#. Think they just released season 2 yesterday. Think it was about ten minutes in, and my wife said "OMG what's happening".. there have been two 60 second+ scenes in the first twenty minutes that have hit frequencies I've never heard my sub hit in 10+ years. The OA

Edit - the 20 minute mark is crazy in Episode 1, season 2

Seen Captain Marvel on Saturday with my wife at my local AMC. It had some great bass, especially her arm canons. Looking forward to this coming home.

Seems though that Disney is unwilling to release a movie that hasn't been filtered at 30hz. This is where the DC movies stand above Marvel with their much better audio.

Ya its so true. DC head and shoulders above the Marvel titles with audio. Hope the Marvels can go back to how they used to be or at least improve.

WOW, Spiderverse was completely insane all around! My favorite bass track this year so far, but that might change after Aquaman tonight. Got a forum friend sending me a 3d copy of Spiderverse which should push that whole HT experience right off the cliff! The 4k was gorgeous though and that bass at reference.....it was so room pressurizing, thick and heavy at times that it was hard keeping my eyes open! Truly vision blurring bass moments.

It looks like you don't recommend the balanced minidsp. I guess I could try using a crossover connection to switch back to RCA at the end of my XLR cables but this may allow for hum to enter my system.

Any thoughts on balanced DSP that can EQ below 20Hz? My fairly expensive Xilica DSP is great but I can only add PEQ down to 20Hz.
With sealed, why are you trying to eQ below 20hz anyways. Any LT you setup should start above 20 to start with, and you have no need for low tuned LPF with all sealed. 20hz should work just fine for you.

Was this the follow up season to the show several years ago about the captive girl telling her story? I loved that, but another "OA" has come out since I think that had nothing to do with it as far as I could tell.

.

I am not following you. I can’t implement the BEQ on frequencies below 20Hz if I don’t have a DSP that will accommodate. Are you saying that sealed JTR should can’t perform with boost at 10 or 15Hz frequencies?

Only the average, it peaks much lower. It’s -10 is 1 dB due to that peak but also at 10hz. -22 dB at 10hz is pretty good. Can it be better, you bet.

I just finished this and I am completely dumbfounded. Easily the best bass film since Mad Max Fury Road. I'm BLOWN AWAY.

Throw in the best 4k/HDR/WCG disc I've seen yet, and I seriously had my jaw on the floor most of this film. Like WTF just happened...... This is seriously the bass track I've been waiting for since Fury Road. This one wont be topped for a loooong time I bet. I cant imagine anything else touching this in 2019, but I would love to be wrong.

WOW!!!!!!!

Regarding Aquaman (2018), which parts weren’t demo worthy? I know film tastes are subjective, but the quality of the audio and video was outstanding.

I have seen Aquaman via iTunes (DV/Atmos) and just recvd the disc yesterday and only watched the first 15 minutes so can't comment too much yet on the disc. So far excellent though. I can sorta see what bulls was saying about boring bass in Aquaman. To me it is mostly (but not all) somewhat generic rumbling without too much nuance. But it's intense , digs deep at times, and there's lots of it. I'm a happy camper with that but I can see others wanting more nuanced bass. Maybe the disc is different but again haven't watched it through yet.

It almost seemed like it last night! I'm still using my JVC x790 though. I think that's the best my projector has ever looked as far as a movie goes.

I actually agree to an extent there; too much relentless bass can definitely spoil scenes that don’t call for it and desensitize you in scenes that do have epic bass hits. I was more surprised the OP didn’t appreciate the visuals from the two films he didn’t care for as I thought the effects were some of the best this year. Still waiting on my Aquaman disc from the VUDU combo purchase, a couple days late now, but can’t wait to give it a proper spin.
