What's the verdict on Captain America 2 and 3?

CA2 was already a reference grade mix although CA3 wasn't. W1

I heard CA2 Atmos sounds similar to the DTS-HD MA and CA3 Atmos sounding better. Is this right?

For the lazy, here's the words of d-rail34 regarding Winter Soldier ATMOS mix:

Quote:
and I must say that I am NOT disappointed at all! This mix is so much better than the DTSHD release. The dynamics seem to be there, whereas they were lacking in the original, and with BEQ it has so much more weight to it. I LIKEY!

Damn! The Atmos mix must be very very good indeed , because I think the DTS HD track is already fantastic, easily one of my top 10 go-to demo movies

Had a double feature last night....started of with Annihilation, which was weird, but good bass. After a few busch latte's I then watched Serenity and thought there was a lot of bass in that one!

Randomly picked up Ex Machina on 4k the other day watching it now in DTS:X. Not a lot of action but some solid bass hits occasionally so far.

Finally saw Aquaman 4k last night.

The visuals were beautiful.
The movie is a bassfest as has been mentioned continuously.

However, I found it way too cheesy to be happy about this purchase. I think it's PG13 but idk why, this felt way too much like a lil kids movie.

I'd say the bass is somewhat comparable to San Andreas which I just saw the day before. Some scenes did have me like WOW but as others have mentioned the bass is used so often that it takes the subtlety out of it.

By far i enjoyed Spiderman Into The Verse way more!

Glad I only spent $12 on this Aquaman 4K (went half on it with my roommate who wanted the blu-ray).

PS: I didn't have to dial my subs back or lower it because it was "too much" bass.

I heard/Watched Aquaman at my daughter's house...so a cheap soundbar and 6 inch wireless sub...so all things considered, I thought it kicked the bass around pretty good. Can't wait to watch it in my theater! I have found the vast majority of the marvell movies to be cheesey, not well acted and lacking in plot...but some of them do get the soundtrack right!

Yeah I agree many of these Superhero movies have some cheese to them but this one over did it for us (3 of us watched it together and we all agreed on my review).

I also feel like they used waaaay too much CGI.
As for the acting, the only one who I feel did a great job is Nicole Kidman.

I'm a fan of both Marvel and DC but this is my least fav movie of the bunch. I do agree tho, Marvel could def take some pointers on the audio from DC.

The UHD will be out 3 months after it's release in theaters like every other film so I've decided to wait instead of having a crap experience in the theaters again.

Yeah, I've given up. even though my sister is pushing me to purchase some Dolby Cinema tickets at AMC Empire 25 or AMC Lincoln Square 13. We'll see how that turns out. $77.07 for 3 tickets plus dinner and transportation since it's impossible to park in the city and since i have to visit our favorite ramen place and feed 3 people, Bam over $200 gone in one night. $77.07 for 3 tickets plus $90 for both ways peak tickets on the metro North for 3 people and we are already $167.07 for the night before dinner. To me it isn't worth it anymore.

I'm in a similar situation. Not interested in paying good money to get my seat kicked and suffer uneducated teenagers. The GF wants to see it, but I don't. It doesn't help I'm not interested in the movie to start with.

The only movie I'll probably be seeing in theaters is X-Men: Dark Phoenix , and that's because more likely there will only be 30 people at the cinema, ha!

It's a superhero movie. Each and every one is "2 far fetched". By definition.

The trick with a movie, any movie at all, not just superhero movies, is for the director to manage to get you to "suspend your disbelief" and get into the story even when it's painfully obvious that what you're seeing on screen isn't even vaguely possible. Good directors can do this. Lesser directors, not so much.

But because we are all different people who look at life from different viewpoints, some of us think some movies (and their directors) are good, while others of us disagree. And that disagreement, is life. If enough of us agree that a given movie is good, they give it an Academy Award.

I probably missed where this was talked about but is anyone else disappointed that Cloverfield didn't get an Atmos upgrade on the 4K?

I feel like that movie is a must own if you're into bass, so it would've been perfect to have that overhead activity especially since you're put into the action as the camera guy. For example, the lights out subway station scene when they're walking the tunnels. Major opportunities like that all over.

Would have also liked the bass to be a little cleaner and less clipped-ish, for lack of a better word.

It's hard not being a fan of a movie that is first-person, has killer bass, a decent story, and is only 1 hr 25 min long!

I have my fingers crossed that the movie 9 and (but more importantly) Earth To Echo are released on 4K with an Atmos upgrade!! These are 75-90min bassfest classics!

You have a point. I doubt the PQ will be a huge improvement, but an ATMOS upgrade would have been a huge magnet for people to upgrade their old copies.

On the other hand, I'd rather have the current mix as-is, instead of some (Disney) engineers trying to improve the track, and then destroying it. Cloverfield mix is truly legendary, so maybe it's not as bad thing they left it untouched.

Just finished Batman vs Superman and it still stands as DC's bass champ ! Auqaman was good don't get me wrong (though just mostly loud and little variation) but my gosh! Batman vs Superman is just powerhouse across the board and digs way way down
