Wait... WHAT!?!

I would loooove to know how you both accomplished this low frequency feat.

Yep, me too. Getting those 8 cured me from bass upgridis, I've been in recovery for over 4 years. With the flat packs for putting together the cabinets from DIY Soundgroup it's a no brainer, and if I had the same choice today (it was either that or more commercial subs - I previously owned dual JTR Caps and dual Seaton Submersives at different times, wasn't enough) I'd do the same thing all over again. The savings make the time it takes to "build" them so worth it. BTW, I have no skills so if I can do it anyone can.

Oh wait... I guess I did get a 9th 18" for a nearfield sub. After that I was cured... I mean it...

Watch me open a yuge can of worms with this statement...

If I was looking to spend that much, I might as well get a SVS PB-16-Ultra!
I just bought a JTR Cap 118HT which has a smaller amp than the 1400. I was completely blown away coming from a Def Tech Supercube 2. I have my thoughts on the owners page with some photos if interested. The scene from Interstellar had my whole living area shaking. Now I need to watch every movie I enjoy with this sub to see what else I've been missing.

I, too, upgraded from a SuperCube II. I got the SuperCube Reference... what a difference!

Having been a King Kong fan my entire life, I'm looking forward to Kong: Skull Island today!

I think Kong Skull Island has some of the best surrounds I've ever experienced. I bet it's a blast in Atmos.

Picked this blue ray up last night and watched. Agree on the usage of surrounds! Outstanding...Base alone, pretty damn good and above average for a modern action movie for sure, but not top tier.
overall, not the best movie I have seen, I would rate the acting and story line as average, but well mixed/soundtrack done and pretty solid overall. Worth the 24 buck, I think...

So far for me, the most impressive bass in a 2017 blue ray release is Deep water horizon...Kong might be second, with close competition from Hacksaw Ridge, Underworld and Resident Evil releases...

Our subjective impressions of bass dynamics will be influenced of coarse by our equipment room gain sealed or open and so forth. If my room was sealed i would get the wobble in around the 10Hz range i'm not getting right now,,,this is where my list of best bass movies would change. But been an open room, i'm getting the best from about 15Hz on up so Kong/Deepwater Horizon/Dont Breath/Hacksaw Ridge are movies that gives the best mix in my layout just to name a few.

Seriously?

Bass was so-so. IIRC it's pretty much filtered at 30hz and it's a non stop droning bass with no clear variation. There are far, far better movies for bass than PR.

While I don't exactly agree with Kini's assessment of Pacific Rim, I will agree that it drops like a rock at 30hz and there are better bass movies out there...BUT, what is there hits hard, and often. I enjoy it every time I watch it.

Wait... it hits harder than The Incredible Hulk!?

And are we just talking 25Hz to 30Hz or real deep bass below that?

I don't own the Incredible Hulk so I can't comment on comparing the 2. But I do know PR hits hard and often more so than Kong. I will say Kong has some good sound effects.
