Hahaha. Good stuff.

In all seriousness, the plot in the new Godzilla was easy enough to follow, and the acting was what it needed. It's a 150% popcorn flick, and nothing more. Maybe for the third one they'll hire Daniel Day-Lewis for the lead, Aaron Sorkin will write the script and Michael Bay will direct it...and everyone will be happy .

How can a movie have a CNN (News Organization) or Liberal Plot? It's just an fantasy, action, monster movie with the acting taking a backseat. this is already known going in. Get out of your conspiracy echo chamber and you might be able to enjoy a simple action movie. Every movie you don't like or whatever isn't because of libs, CNN or some other made up boogeyman you are told to hate that requires you to repeat the same brainwashed mantra everywhere you go. While not the best movie ever made, I watched Jupiter Ascending again last night on BD (TrueHD) and the gunshot at the beginning of the movie was absolutely brutal at -12 dB MV. It scared the crap out of me. The shock wave hit me in the chest like a baseball bat. That movie is mixed a bit hot!

I like Jupiter Ascending a lot, and the audio mix is pretty great. But I think the score is mixes pretty hot, and gets uncomfortable at times. Other than that, it's quite a ride.

You obviously have not been hit properly by a baseball bat.

Just kidding, I watch lots of mediocre movies for the audio, it is why this thread and many like it exist. Of course I like many crappy and mediocre movies with great audio. I watch them more often than great movies with no audio. I will say though once a movie comes around that is great with great audio it is a true treat. What I may really think is a great movie others might spit on. Oh well.

Been on the receiving end of a bat as a catcher! LOL Having the S7201 is comparable at times.

Just got done watching Dark Phoenix in 3D.

Quick backstory. Last year I started watching the entire X-Men series with my daughter to catch her up to this point. So we've seen them all quite recently which def helps in my excitement and review of this movie.

The Harkins Theater here is not anything to brag about, just your typical theater. But, I rarely go to one anymore, so now with my knowledge of HT I approach the experience much differently than normal non-avs ppl lol.

With that said, the movie is amazing!! The picture quality was so clear and the colors were BEAUTIFUL!! In the end credits I saw it say Dolby Atmos and Dobly Vision which excites me because almost the whole time I kept thinking to myself that I can't wait to get the 4K and watch it on my OLED in DV!

The 3D may have made it a little darker than I think the normal version would be. The 3D presentation itself was great! I try to watch movies in 3D whenever I can (rarely, once a year if that) so I don't have much knowledge on 3D but we were very happy.

As for the sound, I made a mistake! We arrived at the very start of the trailers and the best 2 seats were already taken. I had to choose between the next 2 best spots. 1 was in the row directly behind the best, and the other was in the front seats for the handicapped. I made a wrong call and chose the handicapped because I didn't want to sacrifice sitting off-center in the row behind the best since I didn't want to sit directly behind them and not be able to put our feet up.

It was too loud! I didn't enjoy it. We also didn't get much of the surrounds and I noticed it from the beginning when they played the "All Around You" (Spheres) trailer. And because we were below the center of the room the bass wasn't the best either. Basically a total fail on my part.

However, i did move for one scene just to see how the actual sound was and it was great! I'm almost positive it's going to be an amazing home mix. At the same time, the X-Men universe has never let me down when it comes to their audio! Watching them all recently was a showcase of how their audio mixes just keeps improving with every new movie they make!

I loved this movie!! I went in blind, not having watched a trailer or anything about it. It surpassed my expectations and the cherry on top is that my daughter and i were able to catch this in theaters together, after all that catching up!

Btw, there is no after credits scene so don't bother waiting like we did lol

After all the trashing reviews I've read, yours is very comforting and reassuring. I love all the X-Men movies, but I was getting nervous for the last one. I still planned to see it at theaters, and I'm sure the audio will rock.

We are very easy to please, I guess

If you're a fan of the X-Men series, I think it would be hard not to be satisfied with this movie.

But then again we all have different tastes.

All I know is that I loved this movie a lot, and I will be buying it regardless whether it makes the bass list or not.

Yes, it's one of the hottest scene's ever recorded, from memory it's only 1-2dB from what we call a WCS (worst case scenario), scenes like this is why it's recommended to have your AVR sub trim around - 8dB to prevent clipping, especially if you listen loud and run your subs hot.

Nice.. Good idea on JW. I should watch JW 1&2 again since I just recently seen the 3rd one in theater. But for the moment, I have Deadpool 1 running and the 2nd next. Haven’t watched these in reference UHD version. So far still crazy bass and great mix ATMOS mix.
