Fatal mistake.

Seriously though, if you didn't like the movie you don't have to buy it just because the PvA looks decent.

The Ultimate List of BASS in Movies w/ Frequency Charts

Question. I picked up several dvd's the other day at a garage sale and got a bunch that were on the 4 - 5 star list. My question is I bought world war z and watched it last night on the regular version. The website for movies does not say "blu ray" next to it so I assume that the blu ray version of the movie has reduced bass vs the original? Most of the movies are listed in the original (non blu ray) version and I just want to be sure I'm watching the right version.

Edit: part of what made me ask was that somebody in another thread said they watched the Blu-ray version of the movie and was blown away by the grenade launch in the plane. I was not super impressed with it last night after watching the original version although It definitely had some bass.

I then just mounted 2 kickers in the center of the platform which my couch conceals and sits over.

The biggest mistake people make is overengineering the platform which makes it too stiff. You don't want to make it any more sturdy than necessary as the goal is to have a platform or riser that will flex, move and shake.
I am very intrigued, thanks for posting pics... Ideas are swimming in my head now.

I have a few subs, and I was not blown away by the grenade on the plane, but the grenade scene before that in incredible, and the helo crash just after that as well. Those are the scenes that had the V3600/XV15SE(I)'s making me smile.

Agree, The grenade scene prior when they're running in the street made my feel my pant legs flap from 7 feet away. Also the one where he throws two grenades when the zombies chasing up the steps.

I believe the ratings are based on the Blu Ray versions, unless stated otherwise. The WWZ grenade scene is at the end of this clip from 01:04:46 - 01:05:35.

Speakers: L/C/R: JTR Neosis 212HT. Surrounds: Jamo C103, KEF Q100, Polk Audio RTiA3.
Subwoofer: JTR Captivator 4000ULF.
AVR: Denon AVR-X4400H. TV: Samsung UN75NU8000FXZA.

FS: Jamo C103, KEF Q100 and Polk RTiA3

Ok because severallllll of them don't say blu ray etc next to the While maybe 25% do. So the ones that don't say blue ray are supposed to be blue ray?

Are you referring to this thread? https://www.avsforum.com/forum/113-su...l#post20404060

Look at the date... The thread started on 05-06-2011... Please assume that they are all Blu Rays.

There are only a handful of movies that the DVD versions are noted to have better sound than the BluRay version probably because the BR version has a filtered low end.

Speakers: L/C/R: JTR Neosis 212HT. Surrounds: Jamo C103, KEF Q100, Polk Audio RTiA3.
Subwoofer: JTR Captivator 4000ULF.

Oh no sh*t. Wow. I have passed up many of these on blu ray cause of that list. I was under impression that blu ray cut out some of the real low bass. Well I am glad I learned that today! Blu ray for all

There were really only a small few of notable "worse on blu-ray" releases. Pretty sure Master & Commander still takes the cake on biggest letdown (from dvd) when it comes to filtered bass.

So.... you've been buying dvds all this time?

I believe BR version of U-571 was reported to have lost lots of low end as well. I have reg M&C/U-571 and even found the reg Avitar to be better sounding than many BR's i own, not sure if the BR version of Avitar is better?

Watched Shot Caller last night. Lots of good bass moments one been when everyone hit the dirt after the riot, many more like that throughout . I liked the premise of the movie and the overall story, but i may need a second watch to appreciate the execution. Definitely house shaking moments.

I really just started buying movies. Yesterday I bought 17 dvds for 2.00 each but passed up a few BR dvds while looking at that master bass list. Oh well, glad I fixed this now before really getting into my purchases.

Thx.

Because some where in the chain of things to do while authoring the BD version, a switch was flipped that wasn't meant to be....

Sometimes things just get messed up by error. There is no technical reason for it to be worse.

The Ultimate List of BASS in Movies w/ Frequency Charts

I just heard from a very reputable source that a DVD Will have the same amount of bass and low-frequency content as a Blu-ray. This knowledgeable gentleman told me that there are only two exceptions that he knows of that are drastically different going from Blu-ray DVD. At least feel better about making my two dollar DVD purchases now :-)

The mummy 2017 is good bass wise. Falls at 20hz and the bass is always there and loud can't wait for the Blu-Ray to see what the final product is like.

Not a bass movie but damn it's good!. the cinematography, Acting and visual style is a must see. Shot on Film (4K Digital Intermediate) it really draws you into the movie.

most of the time I am usually late to the party, as I just watched Marauders yesterday.
Great bass ride and decent movie. Thanks for the graphs MrGrey!

On another note, did anyone see Atomic Blonde yet? I saw it in the local theater, and was let down by the bass. Although going to the bathroom right after the movie, I noticed some wall shaking bass, looking at the room next to the toilet, it was Dunkirk. Of course I said to myself, that is the one that I should have seen.....
