As i suspected only LOUDER AND CLIPPED to hell.

it looks the same on the graph db wise but something is going on with the metadata on the DVD version -
that makes it play louder and clip at pretty much every big bass scene.

Awesome, MrGrey!

That's what I was hoping for! I didn't want to say it aloud, but I suspected it. But data is always better than subjective opinions. As many say here, "This is, afterall, the AVS forum!"

Thanks @MrGrey

Remember, clipping can make things sound louder and more intense but it isn't really. There is some interesting psychology that goes into why we perceive it this way but....

The point is ...

This movie made a dudes walls shake back in the day but it doesn't now. Never mind he has new gear for playback for a new format. Of course everything is set up right!

Turn it up.

I LIKE IT!!!

Dude... these movies are really GOOD with that same actor. Is he in a series of movies or something?! I thoroughly enjoyed it and the BASS, which I was 'bewared' of. It comes in fits and excursions.. wow! And I felt the true story drew me in immediately. Very beautiful, picturesque scenes in this one and of course the sound is superb for DTS-HD MA... with my Dolby Surround function simulating the Atmos on my receiver, I forgot what audio the disc had because the sound seemed like it was Atmos instead of simulated! (I also think movies like these should be watched in their native language with English subtitles. )

Thank you and others for the recommendations. Keep them coming, guys!

Watched GOTG vol.2 last night, can't really comment on the bass because MV was quite low (-30dB) as I was watching at 2am - but it seemed to have lots of potential. Beyond that I thought the use of surrounds was AWESOME in this and the movie itself was lol funny in parts. Really enjoyed it!

Nice! I forgot all about this movie. I'm going to check this one out from the library!

I'm trying to figure out why I can't find the Event Horizon bass graph on any of the lists in the 3 bass frequency chart forums I have bookmarked?

That movie is just way stupid overboard with the bass so much that I had to turn it down! It was vibrating the components on the top of my front sub, which I've never heard before!

I may have to watch Event Horizon again soon. I like the movie a lot and bought the Blu Ray a while back when it became available. I remember being disappointed in the picture quality, but don't remember it being a bass fest. Are you watching DVD or Blu Ray, and which audio format (Dolby 5.1, DTS...) are you listening to?

Totally gonna fire up Event Horizon next week on vacation!
I have the blu ray and considering how awesome it sounded on regular old cable I'm looking forward to ultimate bass fun time!

Always blu-ray for me (excepting that DVD vs Blu-ray test with War Of The Worlds) and Event Horizon's audio was set to Dolby TrueHD 5.1 when I listened to it, but I have the Dolby Surround on which simulates Dolby Atmos on my Yamaha A660.

Event Horizon is one of my favorite Sci-fi movies. Yeah, it isn't perfect but... it's pretty good.

It has always been a loud mix. Not that I'm complaining or anything. Doesn't go very low (came out in 98?) but it does have some powerful bass.

Too bad the picture is so crummy on Region 1 BD. Most of it is horizontally squeezed so people look like they been put in a vice. Honestly, some shots are worse than others but most of the time it's not bothersome. I watch it at least once a year.

Check it out in DSU and/or Neural:X if you have it.
