No doubt. The more I thought about it today the more I appreciated the skill with which this movie uses all the speakers to convey both accurate true to life sound as well as the notion of movement. This movie will be my new go movie to show off both the surround and Atmos speakers. IMO this is a must own movie for the collection.

I watched a youtube review where speakers mounted like that were nearly as effective as in ceiling and much more effective than the up firing speakers.

I highly recommend those. I have just one pair for a 5.1.2 setup and it's still very convincing. I do need to at a rear pair at some point. As an example the 4k Harry Potter first movie in DTS:X when the kids is jumping up and down on the stairs at the beginning it literally sounds overhead in the middle of the ceiling even with just the two speakers.

You can put them on a USB stick, yes. But, you then need to have a device capable of playing them such as a blu ray player, your smart TV, an HTPC or a streamer box. Personally, I put them on my NAS and stream them using Kodi on an Nvidia Shield, works perfectly.

A buddy of mine has a Samsung BR player and when sticking a USB stick with these demo disc files into the BR player it will not play the audio track on the MKV files while the M2TS files play fine (or, is it the other way around?).

Doubt if the USB port on your AVR will work, but it's worth a shot!

If you can install Kodi or Plex on the ATV4K, certainly! If not, it may have a pre-installed app that will work, I don't have one so I don't know for sure.

Yes, you can. I do it all the time with my ATV and Shield. You just have to have Plex server or SMB file sharing turned on in your computer or NAS. Then on the ATV you can use the Plex app (if using the Plex server) or Infuse (for either) to play them. I prefer to use Infuse as my player. It handles pretty much everything.

Bought and watched Frozen II last night with my 3 year old girl, who absolutely loved it!

It is a big time bass movie and really surprised me. Definitely worth checking out if you have rugrats or a wife or girlfriend, the wife loved it too.

Won't work on an AVR, you need a player like a nvidia Shield, Zapiti, Zidoo, HTPC, etc.

I tell myself 5 speakers is good enough, lol.
It’s pretty easy to cut them and run as long as you have access to above where you are wiring. Also, it’s not too cost prohibitive to hire a pro to do it either. I didn’t have time to wire my ht room or install my Atmos speakers, so I contracted it out. Money well spent and I didn’t have to deal with the anxiety of worrying if I was going to do it wrong.

I also have upfiring speakers (Martin Logan) and agree with what was mentioned above. They are much better than nothing BUT not as good as true ceiling mounted speakers.

Edit: and according to blu-ray.com they both have Atmos tracks on the non 4k discs so I should be set

Frozen will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the first movie in theater we took our boys to see, who were 2 and 1 at the time. They had seen the previews and my oldest kept asking to see it, so we went the day before Thanksgiving in 2013. My wife was pregnant with our 3rd boy and went into labor during the final act. My kids, as well as I, were disappointed we didn’t get to see the final act, but ultimately glad that we got to go experience the wonderful birth of my sweet Bennett. We later watched it on Blu-ray, but it hasn’t been watched since then. Now that they are older, they have little interest in seeing Frozen 2 - they are all boy and don’t want to see what they have dubbed “a girl movie” lol. I couldn’t agree more and don’t have any plans to see Frozen 2, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t good movies and really can bring smiles to the kids and adults.

Finally watched Midway few days ago. Pretty awesome bass and I loved the dive bombing scenes. However, I think I enjoyed the sound mix in Ford v Ferrari more. Still awesome though!

I have the opposite situation. I have three girls and even though the two oldest are now in college they still love watching Frozen. I have to be honest, for me the Disney movies are nostalgic, with a family of girls I've seen them all (more than once) with the family in the HT... and they have created memories of togetherness for all of us. My oldest is home from college visiting and she was upset we don't have Frozen 2 in the house so she plans on buying it today so we can all watch it tonight as a family. So it looks like I'll be watching it tonight... and I'm looking forward to it. I'll report back on the bass.

Finally got around to watching Ford versus Ferrari last night. Found the movie to be just OK for me. Too much exposition, racing scenes shot like the car chase scenes in the Bourne movies. And what's with the 100 Fast and Furious shots of the foot pushing down the accelerator and the corresponding tach jump

The soundtrack was excellent though and assuming not to much creative liberties were taken with the actual events, I learned some fascinating facts from that time. One time watch for me. I thought Rush was a better movie.

Finally got to watch Midway,,,, Good lord,,,, watched only at -20mv with my usual No DEQ and only+5 DB's hot on subs and realized when the opportunity presents itself this movie may crack some glass before i have my dual 5.5mm laminated glass installed. Although the graph peaks were at 30Hz, there were significant hits and layers of bass down much lower which imo was done very well . Putting some of the CGI aside i enjoyed the movie for its entertainment value and of coarse the reality of what the navy was faced with.

Just watched Frozen II with the entire family and we all enjoyed it. It was a nice family time which with two kids in college is hard to come by so it was a nice blessing.

To top it off it had some bass which was a bonus but it also makes me question why Frozen II has more bass than some of the Marvel movies? I can't quite figure out how Disney mixes an animated movie with some noticeable bass but leaves it out of certain Marvel and Star Wars movies.

Have to agree. Lots of 30hz hits but I felt a lot of silent wobble too. The track is nice and loud even at -20 and the Atmos presentation is reference material imo. GGI could surely be better though. Seemed half baked sometimes.
Overall, glad I blind bought this.

Soo looking forward to this. Number one has a special place in our house, and I’m sure this will too. I agree with the bass content too. I think Disney needs to swap sound engineer teams around or something.

Enjoy them kids while you can. Visits will be fewer, and farther between before ya know it. Nice you could get some time.

The bass in Charlies Angels (2019) is so anemic, it's like it was made for headphones!

Not even BEQ can save it (I don't care what that graph says)!

To put it bluntly, this movie's soundtrack makes all Disney movies sound like Bass Monsters!

Tom C, HTX^2steve and Tom Riddle like this.

It'd be interesting to see a graph of it, I don't have the capability.
