Spending ~$750 shipped, what would you do?

Hi Guys,
I do like my current setup but considering if getting 2x SVS PB12-NSD on sale for $720 shipped.

Interested in your thought on what would make my setup noticeably better vs what I have today for teh same $..

Focus is on movies in my 7.4.2 setup

Room: ~26' long x 15' wide; first row at 10' (2nd row to be in future) - basic rectangle, 9 foot ceiling in main viewing are, 8 foot on right side of room (5' walkway area runs length of room)

Current Subs:
PB1000
Velodyne F-1500 (aka FSR15 -- 15" sealed) see Velodyne info... http://hometheaterhifi.com/volume_2_1/subwfer.html & http://www.audioreview.com/cat/speak...0_2741crx.aspx

Do you think I'd find an appreciable positive improvement (clarity, in-your-chest feel, etc) to changing my setup to 2 of these SB12s or should I look at something else... single DIY 18" or?

thx!

A 20 year old Velodyne and SVS subwoofers that haven't been sold for a few years? Did this post get caught in a time warp or something? Fire up the flux capacitor!
VicTorious1 and uniquepattern like this.

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite.

BTW, did you really need to quote the entire post?

Something like a VTF-3 is probably going to get you closer to what you want, if you don't want to DIY.

I believe he found that deal on eBay. OneCall on Ebay has the SVS PB12-NSD on sale right now for $399. Onecall is supposedly an authorized dealer and includes a full warranty and 30 day return.

I'd definitely get this instead of the two SB12s for HT.

^^^ and that would play nicer with your PB1000. Just move the PB1000 closer to your listening position to help with the differences in output.

I want to make a noticeable improvement over what I have now (Veloydyne F1500 + SVS 1000)... without getting something gargantuan since I don't have the space. Two 15" or one 18"?

I'm replacing the 1000...not blending.

Looking for recommendations to replace both my subs with something that would give me a large improvement

Budget of $750 your not going to buy duals that are better then the PB1000 you own now, why not just add another PB1000?

Or just get the most sub you can right now and get a 2nd latter. In that case it's the HSU 2.5 as mentioned previously, shipped for $604, a Rythmic LVX12 shipped for $699, or an outlet PB2000

Figured I'll sell the pb1000 and velodyne. With the funds (about $1k), get one 18 or two 15s.

I'm not sure where you're going to get dual 15's for $1k but with that new budget you will step up to another level as far as a single sub is concerned, although I haven't seen anything with an 18" driver for $1k.

I'll let the experts take over, good luck with whatever you decide.

Sounds like DIY is what you want, then. Dual 15" subwoofers with the right amplification are going to kill what dual PB1000s can achieve.

The HSU VTF-3 MK5 at $870 shipped is a fantastic price for the amount of output you get. But two of them would not meet your budget, thinking you'd have to go DIY to get dual 15's under $1K.
