JBL L8400P popping

I'll admit my knowledge of subs are limited, so need some assistance. This sub is starting a loud popping at certain frequencies. Also, starting to crackle upon startup.

Should I just trash it or worth trying to fix? This a second sub for a dedicated media room and cannot handle this sound anymore.

Sub is about 5-7 yrs old.

Almost certainly amplifier related and likely caps. If you are comfortable with a soldering iron replacing caps is usually easy enough(and cheap). Or, you can try to find a used amp. A quick google shows "rebuilt" amps for $165.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep,

Thx Tom. Not sure it's worth the time and effort for me. I would just end up screwing it up then out the money for the amp. I'll probably just a new one.....not JBL. Match the B&W sub is a better bet.
