Wrestled the beast into the theater, put the isolation feet on it, and placed it in my sweet spot where my PB 2000 used to go. It?s on top of an auralex Great gramma isolation riser

Ran a quick calibration with audyssey multeq xt32

Threw genuine?s pony on to make sure the sub was in the right spot and gave me that punch that I like. Sounded great.

Ran my usual demo: Incredible Hulk

I?ve heard the PB 13 ultra before and so his thing delivered exactly what I was expecting. More low end extension and output. It was great!

Inception was next. The Mr Charles scene when Leo tells Cillian he?s in a dream. That pulse that happens after that I was expecting did not disappoint. The PB 2000 could reproduce this but the PB 4000 is ten times better. WAY more output it was like I was getting a massage with the pulse in this scene. Just like the Pb 13 I remember and I loved every second of it. I knew what I was missing out on and having it back feels fantastic

Last but not least was my new test for a subwoofer to remain composed: EOT

https://youtu.be/o8IKA8nYn8E

My PB 2000 sounded terrible here and sounded like it was really in distress, even from my listening position, the chuffing was that loud and the driver flapping all over. I was scared for the 4000 to say the least, but low and behold....the PB 4000 handles this scene like a champ!!

I had the sub volume on -15db and my avr set the trim to -9 and I bumped it up 5db to -4db so the sub wasn?t turned down and my master volume was -10 dB where I always listen

This sub handled this scene superbly. There was minimal port noise as there was sooo much air moving in the ports, but the driver maintained its composure 100% and behaved. Sitting in my listening position I could not hear or detect any distress coming from the subwoofer at all which I was beyond pleased about. The PB 2000 sounded like it was having a heart attack, not the 4000. No insane driver flap noise or anything. I am so impressed about what the Pb 4000 could do with this scene. Now I have the confidence this sub can play whatever I throw at it and maintain its composure.

This sub passed my test with the EOT scene and its satisfaction for me that I made a good Subwoofer purchase. Confidence in my system is what I wanted and this sub gave me that. Duals are going to be even better!

My umik1 should be coming tomm so I?m about to start learning REW and tweaking some things so I?m looking forward to that.

All in all, I?d say this Subwoofer is exactly what I was expecting having heard the PB 13 ultra. I would?ve had to measure both to really see the improvements they made, but I can confidently say that the 4000 is a true worthy successor to the PB 13 ultra.

Stay tuned for more impressions as I tinker with it!

Why would you need isolation feet on carpet? Or on an Auralex pad?

Sounds like you think the PB4000 is a step up from the 13ultra? I'd like to see some actual measurements of this thing and see how it compares to the likes of PSAs offerings. Do people speculate the PB4000 being more similar to the 15V, V1500, or V1801?

Want to say good job on buying the PB-4000.Its a tank and i feel its the better choice over dual pb-2000 or evne owning 1 pb-2000.I myself had the pb-2000s in dual. And while i love them they still were not giving me the bass that i truly missed in the pb-13 ultra. So yes what i am saying is yes i want a pb-4000.Was also thinking about the pb-16 ultra. But idk if i need that much bass when i know the bass i am getting wiht the pb-4000 is more then enough.and clean and smooth ,Basically were getting everything the wonderful pb-13 ultra had but MORE AND MORE.I love how we now have the ability to use bluetooth and the phone app. That is a good touch.did not see that coming from SVS.and u can tell its not the flagship PB-16 Ultra that makes them there money. Its the sb series of subwoofers. And it will also be now the 4000 series.I say having 1 pb-4000 is for sure more then any bass heads need's.for sure.Maybe down the road u get a second on .So far tho are u happy with the product. Can u make another video with say mad max fury road.

Think you will find the same as against the PB16 Ultra, where the V1801 will have more up top and the ultra digging deeper. However need to remember that this sub is $1900. Versus the 15V and V1500 being about $1000 and the V1801 $1400. It would be good to see this being tested against the Monolith 15 which seems to be impressing people with Cap 1400s...that is quite a feat

I was told today that the pb-4000 to the pb-16 ultra in terms of raw power and depth there is a really hard way to tell the difference ,They both are really the same in alot of ways. The only difference really is 300 extra watts and driver size. But both offers mainly the same things in a lot of way so if anyone bought a pb-4000 they are not really losing out on the pb-16 ultra.I think thats why really i am going to buy myself a pb-4000.Mainly because it can do everything the pb-13 ultra did but more.that value in that 13 ultra was tremendous .I think the price point is great too,$1,899.Thats not bad and for what u get in terms of pure value. Its remarkable.

No doubt it’s a stellar sub. I was responding to the question on how it would compare to the PSA subs.

13x13. I have a SB1000 and 2000 up front now. I could do two SB13 Ultra's, but not the much bigger ported subs.

A door comes very close to the left speaker. No way a big ported deal would work or i would have a JTR sub.

There is a way to fix your problem .However it will have you to spend some little extra money.Your tv stand is massive.and from the picture i see u have alot of things in there more of dvd blurays and some home theater gear. What u should do is take all that gear and run it all in a AV RACK.This would help u to then put 1 pb-4000 in that room and its also make things a lot nicer and neater.AV RACKS are the best solution to leave a tv stand.i myself want to do the same.very soon. And most home theater guys even Batemen has a AV RACK.from SANSUS.

I could see one or the other, but not both as they both are for the same purpose.
Idk why I have both honestly haha. Extra decoupling maybe? Haha idk.

I got the isolation feet for my PB 2000 and the auralex did a better job to my ears but I missed the return window on amazon so I said screw it I?ll just do both.

Does it ?hurt? the sound doing both instead of just one or the other? I really doubt it would.

Do I need to do both? Nah but it?s all good

If I only did what was needed or necessary I wouldn?t have bought a PB 4000 for my room I would?ve stuck to the home theater in a box and stopped this madness!

My wife would prefer I stopped I?m sure haha

The box showed up..... ?that?s obnoxious!?
Hahah yup and it?s amazing

I could do two SB4000's. Most of what i watch has no LFE anyways so the subs almost never get a work out as it is.

I could do two SB4000's. Most of what i watch has no LFE anyways so the subs almost never get a work out as it is.
so are u more of a sealed subwoofer kind of guy because 1 sb-16 ultra would do the job for your side room.and it would fit for sure.I find myself listen to more music as well and movies yes.But i video game like crazy and music.movies i stream on my MacBook pro alot been doing that for years now.I myself been thinking about getting a sealed sb-16 ultra.if not getting a pb-4000 and sealing it up if need be.because you do get the best of both worlds.Thats why ported svs subwoofer i find to be better value.

I always liked sealed better than ported. they sound so much more snappy and fast. Just most of what i watch is 60's and 70's TV shows so no LFE. Hard to see spending big money on a sub that never gets used much. Once in a while i play a new movie to just hear the subs.

You should check out rythmik and Monolith subs then to get best of both worlds.

That just seems like a lot of money for one 12”-13.5” sub (whatever it is). You can buy two Hsu VTF-3 MK5 15” subs for less that would give you more even bass in the room.. more balanced with no localization. And dual VTF3.5’s go down to 14hz or lower depending on your room and setup.

It would be good to see this being tested against the Monolith 15 which seems to be impressing people with Cap 1400s...that is quite a feat
The V15 is a bigger box and smaller driver than the V1801 , gives it more volume to dig deeper. The V18's do pound up top , but the V1500 is a great all around sub that is hard to beat!
