B&w db4s

Has anyone got one and likes it in a open living apartment area?

I've had a few days of odd popping with my current PV1 while watching surround sound and then today its just popped and now its lit up but no sound

Fuse is fine, replugged cables, but no luck.

So im looking at the Matching gloss black DB4S to go with my B&W 700 S2 centre, will be getting the 705 S2 at Xmas.

I'd like to look at a getting this PV1 fixed if possible first as i love the shape and sound

But, knowing my luck, i might as well start looking at the DB4S incase its not repairable.

any reviews would be great

No personnal Reviews on the DB4S?

I'm not surprised, i couldn't find any online over the last few days

The PV1 is going into the repair shop on Thursday to see if it can and how much it will be to be repaired.

You aren't going to get many responses because the value proposition on that subwoofer is not very good.
It is a single 10" sealed box subwoofer for $1600.

I think I paid about that much for my PSA 3000i (dual 15" sealed subwoofer) with the premium finish.
So my recommendation would be to get anything else that fits in your space. SVS makes some nice gloss black sealed subs.

You are properly right, it isn't a cheap sub, and the value for bang for buck isn't the best.

The choice is somewhat limited here in Aus, and i haven't seen a black gloss subwoofer that i really like, as its very visible in our living room.

Ive got to get around to drop of the PV1 for repair, as ideally i'd like to keep that, over a square subwoofer box.

They claim it plays pretty low though, -3db at 10Hz. That's pretty impressive for a 10" sub. 16 ultras don't even claim that. Wonder how honest that spec is...

edit: found this review: As for the subwoofer, we pulled out our ancient copy of Titan A.E. with its opening destruction of our planet and the rather fulsome accompanying infrasonics (which we’ve measured stretching easily to 13Hz).

So it does sound like a pretty decent sub and shows that size doesn't always matter, although I'm sure your dual 15s will push a whole lot more air.

Turn it up!
