Anyone watched this with beq yet? Wondering what the ulf content is in a music movie like this?

Edit: To answer my own question I found it boosted the bass content of the music parts too much for my liking, but worked well for fight scenes and throwing tv's out of windows

if it says 0 for 0 then you have no local copy of the beq repo, go to the Preferences dialog (CTRL+P) and click the refresh button near the bottom to clone the repo then try again

Ok so I did that & now it says 1335 files, followed the steps again & it saved all the files to my selected folder but they are all XML files which when applied remove all my existing settings.

Think I have got it I am supposed to attach my config file, I feel a right plank now

Bass EQ for Filtered Movies

Just watched Spider-Man into the Spiderverse. Wow. WOW What intense bass. I’m now watching movies at -20dB versus my normal -10dB because the BEQ adds so much to the bottom end of movies. My wife appreciates the lower volumes and the house structure is also thankful.

I can’t thank everyone on this thread enough especially @aron7awol for making my movie watching experience so good. I’ve not enjoyed an upgrade to my system this much. The miniDSP HD upgrade for bass management coupled with these filters has been magic. I’m running a high end system and these additions have made me feel the investments were worth it.

Lastly, I added Crowson MAs to round out the experience and wow I’m in bass heaven. My nearfield JTR Cap 4000 plus the 4 MAs is ridiculous for sheer power and digging deep and low. I feel movies and it’s not at all fake or gimmicky. My theater room is open on 2 sides and sits on a concrete slab. It’s a hard room to compress fully for the deep stuff, but now I couldn’t be happier. What a great hobby!

Thank you!

Welcome! I'm really glad to hear you're enjoying BEQ so much!

A nearfield Cap 4000 and 4 MAs...yeah, I think you're well set up to take advantage of everything BEQ has to offer

Please continue to post your impressions on different BEQ movies! Thanks!

I definitely felt the difference last night when I was doing the Hanna series and had 8 signals loaded at once. Every filter update took a good 5-10 seconds to render. So I just disabled smoothing temporarily while I worked out the filters and then enabled it for the presentation. No big deal, and thanks for the continued development d00d!

Well I never noticed any speed difference when working with a single signal, which is all I've done for a while until I did that TV series last night. So I'm sure it's since you revamped the smoothing as you would expect.

The benefits of the new smoothing are worth it to me, so I'll just disable it as necessary when working with multiple signals. Thanks again!

Edit: Actually now I'm noticing a significant delay even working with a single signal. So I'll probably disable the smoothing for design purposes and then turn it on for presentation purposes. What do you think of having the report have its own toggle for smoothing so it can be left off for responsiveness during design but have it turn on automatically for the report?

I'm not entirely sure because I'm just noticing the delay now, which is strange, but I didn't think you made any changes in the latest beta that would affect speed in this area?

That is correct, I just added in the minidsp thing then rebuilt.

Yeah, so the most likely conclusion is it was the smoothing and I didn't really notice it at first, but it's definitely significant enough that I'm disabling smoothing even when working with one signal. I don't mind toggling it off and back on for the report on each BEQ, but I'm likely to forget here and there and end up with some jaggies getting published

just to check, you're talking about the checkbox option in the preference dialog (when you talk about toggling it on and off) right?
