I also picked up the 3D version (Italian Import)
and The Fourth Phase (AoF part II)
Is The Fourth Phase as good? I haven't seen anything on it yet.

However, yes, for a semi real-time backup of a machine that holds info that would be difficult to get back, 6 bucks a month is not a bad deal.
Same here - good for single machines, but I wouldn't do a server. Not just for backup reasons, but for restore reasons. I have a 40TB unraid server (only using ~12TB right now) as well and I just back that up to a few 10TB ext drives.

Oh great idea for a BOSS demo, this track just pounds without BEQ! I still remember the first time I bought AOF; it was after I upgraded to four PSA subs, and the TR was just ridiculous, and this was before nearfield subs or MA’s. I’ll definitely have to spin it up when the BOSS is finished in the coming weeks.

I've been using the scene that's on the AVS demo disc along with Pulse server room and the race from RP1 for my demos. They all work great for it. AoF has been nice because I've been pickup up a slight hit from the helicopter blades that I hadn't noticed before.

I have quite a large amount of burned media that is 10+ years old, and about 7-8 years ago I started transferring it back to hard drive because of the random disk errors I was getting on various discs. These were verified good when I burned them and had been stored in CD notebooks in a dry and dark environment. The degradation tends to happen faster the more humid the environment, or so I have read.

Life expectancy of unburned discs is 5-10 years according to the manufacturers, and the burned discs will degrade faster. Just a word of warning, as I had more than several throw errors and I finally decided it was better to keep them on active discs (backed up) or thumb drives for items that could not be replaced (photos, etc.).
Oh trust me, I know! I have them backed up on both discs and HDDs... 62TB and counting!

And though I don't really burn discs anymore, every year or two I do data checks on the very first discs I burned and they still seem to be holding up well (but that may more credit due to the Taiyo Yuden discs I've purchased in the past).

I tried doing updates from my phone and about lost my freaking mind.
...grabbed a cheap 15" Lenovo on the way home from work ($550 marked down to $399).

One of these days I'll have to setup a desktop at home again,
Maybe even get into the BEQDesigner

I have several cloud services (Google Drive, MS OneDrive and Dropbox)
unfortunately I mostly used them for photos (that I already have on my smartphone lol)

The List is updated as of 10 minutes ago, 696

I stuck GoT S8 E1 with the S1 and S7 (even though it's not Disc based at this point)
Wheelman (on Netflix) I believe was in DD+ ATMOS when it was first released, is it just DD+ now?

2. Why do you use multiple small filters instead of one big one?

The reason for using multiple smaller filters is twofold:
1. You can achieve a steeper slope with lower Q, and thus less overshoot.
2. A lower frequency, a higher Q, and a higher gain will all push the biquad coefficients closer to the limitations of their precision. Using multiple smaller filters will help with a lower Q and lower gain, giving those biquad coefficients more "headroom" as far as their precision limitations. This can be especially important with the MiniDSP 2x4HD, because it uses 96kHz sample rate which eats into that headroom. Running into the precision limitations would manifest itself as "error" in the implementation of the filters in the DSP. In other words, the actual result of the filter would differ from the expected result.
What is the maximum amount of filters BEQ will use? 10?

Is it actually confirmed that the 2x4 HD model has the same overshoot issue as the other MiniDSP models? It has a FPU (Floating Point Unit) whereas the other earlier models were fixed point only and shouldn't have any rounding issues limiting precision (theoretically at least).

Yes, 10 is the max.

Yes, I know for sure from my testing that the 2x4 HD definitely still has biquad precision issues. Not the exact same as the other models, but it's significant. It does have 32-bit floating-point coefficients, but it also uses 96kHz sample rate. I've wished they had a 48kHz plugin for the 2x4 HD for this reason.

Do we still not have a work-around for downloading the BEQ files and not removing my house curve? I haven't even bothered messing with downloading the BEQ files because it would still require me to go in and fix the house curve on each movie. Or is there a way to copy and paste my house curve from movie to movie?

That's disappointing. Is it as bad as the 4x10/10x10 HD models?

Why can't you put your house curve on the output side instead of the input side where you have another 10 filters?

My house curve is on my output side, but if I load one that I downloaded from the list it only gives the input side and resets back to default on the output.

Even though I usually don't add the streaming titles I'm going to add GoT since it's GoT.

Glad to see too that I wasn't crazy with the volume on this one. Usually I watch TV shows at a lower volume than movies but I had to keep cranking this one up on Sunday night. They really turned it down.

I plan on updating the filters as each episode comes out, eventually ending up with one to be applied to the entire season.

I've tried to update notes on Page 1 (Reply#4) Just under the "Start Your Own Library"
But since I have not attempted the "merge" myself yet, and have not installed the BEQ'D App yet,
I'll try to fill in the blanks later tonight when I actually attempt the "merge" feature in BEQ'D
galonzo and aron7awol like this.

The Unfinished Basement Theater & Whisky Guitar Lounge | Bass EQ for Filtered Movies
JVC DLA X750 4K Projector | 120" Powered Drop Screen | 65" LG 65B6P OLED | Panasonic DMP UB900 | Oppo UDP 203 | HDFury Vertex
Yamaha RX-A3070 | 7.4.4.4 | Mission M3i x11 | Funk Audio 18.0 x2 | Velodyne DLS 5000R x2 | Crowson LvL3 MA x4 | miniDSP 2x4HD

That would be much appreciated. I just added a BOSS platform so was dreading having to resave all my BEQ files with the new settings that now use output 3 in the minidsp HD 2x4.
