I'm not familiar with the nanoAVR, so trying to understand it. Is the BEQ before bass management if it's done only on the sub output? The webpage for it says that it does bass management so I took that to be that the output was the post management signal. Am I misinterpreting that? I'm more hesitant to add merging support for it if it's pre management. I don't want to risk anyone's system that doesn't realize it needs to be adjusted.

I don't have one, but from looking at it, it outputs 7.1 PCM signal via HDMI, so even if you perform bass management with it you're still limited to the same clipping limits. Like I said, it can be used, but a level reduction will be necessary to prevent clipping. It's still a perfectly reasonable way to apply BEQ (as is remux), the user just has to make sure they are aware of this and properly account for it. Hopefully if one is performing BM within the nanoAVR they are already doing this, although a lesser extent is necessary without BEQ.

OK, thanks. I'm hesitant to add support then for it to BEQd or browser. It sounds like something users are going to have to do manually and tweak them when entering. cc @raynist

If it is a case of copying the filters to every input channel then it is also easy to add a gain adjustment in the same way the remix screen calculates it for you. Perfectly doable. If someone wants this them just share the app (or sample config file) and be prepared to test it to confirm it works.

I'll get with you on. raynist was looking for it and has sent me stuff on it already. Outside of the gain adjustment it was looking straight forward with what's already implemented. Only one channel to copy everything too.

Hi - I was able to install BeqDesigner on my MacBook pro and was able to use the Merge Minidsp XML to create the files for my subs. I have 3 minidsp HD's in my main setup for my different subs (4 JTR S2's, 4 B1200's and 2 BOSS platforms). I only need to BEQ the S2's and BOSS so it is easy enough to just load the config files for the 2 minidsp hd's. No need to make a special modification for my NanoAVR's. I had actually taken the NanoAVR's offline but figured I would add one back in if it was easy. Loading the config files onto 2 HD's is so much easier than manually adding the filters for 2 HD's.

Thanks!!

What is the standard way on the MiniDSP that you set the output to just flat, so no changes made on out just on in? Is there some way to just bypass or do you have to bypass each individual filter and gain etc?

You've got 4 Config memory slots available,
BEQ only loads to the Config 1 Input channels.

I would recommend you pick Config 2 and hit the PEQ tab and set all 10 slots to BYPASSED for no BEQ.
Going forward that would always be your FLAT EQ setting, you can still put your house curve on the output channels (if you have one).

I use the other slots for Late Night mode where I have my subs dialed down (or muted) and just the Crowsons and or near-field subs active

Thanks!!
Yes, using the BEQ'D app makes loading BEQ settings a single mouse click. Manually inputting values is so redundant now.
...I can't imagine anyone needing the list on the first page anymore, well other than to look at the pretty graphs

Glad you got it worked out so quickly!

Thanks.

But what should you do for the output? Same? So for each output, do bypass EQ for each filter?

No need to do anything, the outputs are all at zero gain by default. (unless you want a house curve on them)
If you haven't made any changes to your other Config memory slots, the inputs are likely at zero as well, look for yourself, it only takes a second.

PEQ at 55Hz is meant to balance the mix, therefore optional.

I finally got around to integrating my MiniDSP 2x4 HD into the chain this last weekend. Quite a performer for such a little unit but I've run into a problem with it and wondering if anyone else has run into it.

It does not connect to the board anymore, the bridge window just counts and counts. I never get the synchronize window. Anybody else run into this?

Not using wi-fi with it at all. Straight USB to laptop. Here's a screen shot of my laptop showing the bridge window of 2x4HD. Says the device is found, but status just counts bytes up to infinity and never gives the synchronize window.

Looks like you are connected... dont worry about the pop up that shows bytes. The green "connected" spot in the upper right hand of your main screen shows you are good.

@aron7awol any chance you've got the 1998 Godzilla 4K/UHD yet?

I was going to take a hard pass on this one initially (Matthew Broderick version),

I never did buy it on Bluray, so it's not like its a double dip for nothing.

Welcome to the BEQ Crew Brother carp!

Thanks!!

I know man... if we can figure it out then everyone can. I was cringing everytime I posted recently asking for help because I know it has to be an eye roller for those that know there way around a computer but I pushed through because I knew the reward would be worth it.

No way this isn't the best thread in AVS history.

Someone who REALLY knew what they were doing worked their ATMOS skills to the level all should aspire to.

Backdraft LFE and DTS:X soundtrack is awesome! This is how you remaster an 80’s movie; I’m not sure how the bass was on previous versions, but it’s legit on the UHD. I think the movie still holds up really well.

@PioManiac @aron7awol

Forgive my ignorance, but where can I locate this?

Or Better yet, jump down the Rabbit Hole and get the entire list in XLM file format from the repository (aka "repo")
Downloaded to your laptop/pc/macbook then a single mouse click for your selection off the list to load into your MiniDSP and watch instantly.
