We've got pretty bad power where I'm at, though not as bad as the last town I lived in, so I live by - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - They are a sinewave UPS and do a great job. I've got 3 of them in the living room and they power everything except the sub. If the power goes out, I've got about 20 minutes before the sound dies and another 15 before the TV. I've also got another dedicated to the modem and router & they will last a couple of hours which is usually long enough for power to either be restored or to go to bed.

Again I have bad power and I have found that giving your sensitive electronics clean power definitely improves longevity. My stuff always last much longer than anyone I know, but your mileage may vary.

One of my fav things about this thread is that when you go looking for the BEQ of a movie, you can easily scroll 10 posts before and 10 posts after the movie and learn something! I always do this. Every movie I check out I read the surrounding posts and see what goodies are hiding around the corner.

Ok, you guys are probably tired of my rants, but i am too excited, LOL.

So earlier i told about the no-BEQ vs BEQ viewing i had with Shazam.

I actually slipped in Avengers Endgame in that no-BEQ viewing too, and watched it again last night with BEQ. Same result:

No-BEQ= meeh....

With BEQ: WOOOOW!!!!

(I will not rant more than that other than to basically repeat what was said in the Shazam post. Just EPIC with BEQ!)

HOWEVER: what i wanted to say, and what i have come to discover since this BEQ thread, but have not connected until these pre-BEQ viewings is: IMMERSION !!!!!

So when i watched these no-BEQ versions, afterwards i was well rested and had enjoyed a couple of hours with good entertainment all’s well ....

BUT when watching the same movies WITH BEQ, i was EXHAUSTED afterwards!!!! Scene after scene i was on the edge of my seat, TOTALLY ingulfed in the action, and when the scene was over i said to myself: breathe! BREATHE!!! IT IS INSANE how much more i am involved in the movie with this full bandwith versions!! I LOVE IT !!
Dare i say BEQ gets me more immersed in a movie than Atmos!! AWSOME

Oh, and i watched Thor 1 and 2 in UHD, Atmos and BEQ before i went to (night)work tonight, and same there : they were AWSOME both of them, with nr2 really having some epic transients and insane wobbleS, holy cow i had fun

I know what you're thinking. BassEQ on The Incredible Hulk? Has aron lost his damn mind? Just hear me out...

This is really what's been driving me to get the MV adjustment quantified. Have you ever played The Incredible Hulk at your normal listening levels? I have, and it's half-amazing and half-painful. The bass/ULF is absolutely amazing, but up top it's too loud and harsh. Now you can have the amazing without the pain!

The gain shown here is intended to be a MV adjustment. It might look like you could just put a negative HS instead of the two filters, but for the post-bass-management folks you wouldn't be reducing above the crossover.

Earlier today, I was testing the scenes in this film that I've demoed many times and know very well, but with the -5dB MV adjustment. There was a serious lack of ULF (but it also wasn't harsh) compared to what I was used to. I normally run these demos really loud and deal with the harshness since it is a short-term demo and I want to show off the Crowsons in these scenes. I tested this BEQ, and I got all the ULF I'm used to without the harshness. It's still loud, but it's a level I could actually watch the entire movie at. I'll really happy with how this turned out.
So the mv adjustment is -5? I read the post 3 times and I'm still confused.

That's awesome Nalleh.....we've been re-discovering the Marvel universe and have been watching them in chronological order as someone reference in this thread a couple week ago. That article is here.

The experience has been surprising in 2 ways so far.

With BEQ this time around, I was certainly expecting an improvement, but really thought there would be differences I would notice from one movie to the next. This was mostly based on my experiences watching these movies one at a time over the last 11 years or so. But, the surprising thing has been that each movie so far has been very satisfying with incredible wobbles, almost non-stop, and textured TR that enhances the experience so much more this time around. The consistency with BEQ so far has been almost unbelievable and sometimes I find myself smiling just thinking how far our hobby has come in the last year or so.

The other surprise has been how engrossing the films are when watching in order. Since it's been so long since we've seen some of the first movies, it has been lots of fun because we've forgotten about a lot that was going on in the earlier films. Seeing character appearances and story arcs develop after knowing how the series progresses has been very cool. Plus, the kids were young when these first films came out and it's cool to see how they're connecting the dots now and those ah-ha moments in their eyes.

It's been a fun ride so far....literally and figuratively. BTW we're on number 10....just finished GOTG tonight and I'm still smiling from all the textured TR that was going on in that film. There were some incredibly surprising explosions that happened also in that film that were so much fun...and scary!

I know this article was mentioned a couple weeks ago in this thread, but wanted to share my experiences so far as we're getting reacquainted with the Marvel Universe. Highly recommended!

^^ I agree. I restarted this Marvel journey again with my daughter since she loves them but hasn't been up to date on them for that very reason that she was much younger when they first came out. Right now we're on 16 or 17 I believe which is Black Panther. I stopped at Infinity War so we'll be watching after IW together fresh. I look forward to Infinity War and End Game as these will be the first 4K/Atmos Marvel movies we watch!

^^Couldn’t agree with you more @trhought , on every thing you said

And i am also getting trough the Marvel universe, although a bit out of order, LOL. So much fun

Let me put it this way:

With BEQ, 98% of movies watched has been a immense upgrade, almost a guarantuee !!

With Atmos, maybe, MAYBE 20% of them has been ANY improvement. So dissapointed in how most of them implement it !! ESPESIALLY since Atmos CAN be MINDBLOWINGLY good

I look forward to Infinity War and End Game as these will be the first 4K/Atmos Marvel movies we watch!
That's cool Geo.....getting to enjoy the Marvel Universe all over again and building memories with you daughter! Can't wait until we get to Black Panther. I loved the tech in that movie and how it was used to support the theme. Fun times to be an AV nut!

Yes...it's been very fun with BEQ and for us, we never had much ULF TR until recently, so having both the software solution (BEQ) and hardware solution has made the experience so satisfying with the newfound capability. Literally, feeling like we're right there in the Marvel Universe as chaos is happening all around us....love it!

That's a bummer about Atmos. I've had very good experiences with Auromatic upmixing, both music and movies. But that would mean you would probably have to move your speakers to take full advantage of Auro. With Dolby having to lift their restrictions last week and allowing equipment manufacturer's to use any upmixer even with Atmos content, I think that will be good for us hobbyist in the long run. And, put some pressure back on Dolby and their customers at the studios to step up their game. In the meantime, if you have Auro capability, it may be worth a try to see if it helps improve your overall 3D sound experience. I know you like to experiment which is the only reason I mention that.

Interesting that you mention ATMOS and Auro3D, and the overall disappointment about ATMOS implementation. You may find this video interesting:

Within a day of the post, usually much quicker. I check the thread often during the day and usually enter them not too far from when @aron7awol posts them. Sometimes there's slight delays due to time zone differences or if it's something like one's posted at night and I went out that night. Every once in awhile, like 2 days ago, I'll do something stupid too like enter them on my work Mac, get distracted by work before pushing, and forget to push. Those will then be pushed the next day.

This will probably get quicker once we finish testing the xml file generation with the metadata added. *nudge, nudge* It should streamline the process a bit.
