It doesn’t look like it was neutered like some of them have been.

No Atmos or DTS-X track and not even the 7.1 track from the Blu-Ray...I would say they absolutely missed the mark. This could have been a show stopper with the over head channels. I’m pretty disappointed

Meh, I’ve only got a 5.2. Perfect for the mere mortals such as myself. Lol

Visually should be pretty cool. I’ve never seen it.

Man, I completely forgot to post the latest REW sweep that I took of my room the other day.

I'm not sure if anyone recalls, but I posted one from my inital sweep after I picked up the MiniDSP/Umik-1 and I had a HUGE dip in the 27-28Hz range. Unfortunately, it took forever to run more sweeps, but after a few more position changes, post Audyssey, and most recently, the distance tweak (This was a reall blessing to find), I think I have something that I can live with.

After the first sweep I noticed that the 27Hz dip was completely gone, but I had a couple of them in the 60Hz & 120Hz (X-over point) range (This is where the distance tweak helped out a lot). While it didn't completely eliminate them, I was able to cut it to more than half of what it was.

Take a look and let me know what y'all think, as I'm still pretty green when it comes to REW.

Thanks,

Darrell

Yeah. I'm not sure that it's the exact one that I signed, but I believe it's been close to a year now since I signed one.

I'm not seeing the option to do 5db increments. Although, it does state that it's in 5db increments whenever highlighted in the preferences menu...??...but it's not displaying it on the actual graph.

[EDIT] Here it is with no smoothing.

Go to the limits button to size the graph and raise the minimum dB and lower the maximum dB by 5 or so and it automatically will show 5 dB increments if that makes sense

What is yours set to exactly? Mine is set at 120 (Top) and 45 (Bottom), and even after raising & lowering them, it's still displaying in 10db increments.

I've done kick ass 2. I've got killer elite and will add it to my to-do.

KA2 doesn't need much. It is already pretty good.

I've filled out a few movie series started here. 22 Jump Street, Sin City A Dame to Kill For.

BTW, I just got Flatliners (and As Above, So Below). Let's see how that goes. Everyone seems to hate that movie. Ralph Potts didn't even bother to review it, ha!

I love the work being done here,, and I have ordered the minidsp
Thanks to aron7wol and others..

But last night,,
I was following the debate which started, artistic intent vs beq. @dolby atmos thread

And though I do not much care for directors intent and think that its over hyped.. We All enjoy the bass boost, don't we!..

There is one thing which confuses me.. If its just a cut from 31.5hz and below,, wouldn't we just need to invert it.. A LS filter below 31.5.. And since bluray and uhd disc makers from 1 production house must be using the same filter for all movies a reversal should be possible without changing any settings between those movies...
I mean why when reverse engineering and restoring the filtered movies we need to use differnet filters each time..

Surely if production houses are doing it intentionally they would be following the same filtering process each time.(again I love the work being done here)

I have myself downloaded the beq app and had a look over at some Bollywood movies, and it's the same story and even worse with most movies.. Nothing below 30-40hz in some recent movies

because the poster who made that comment is wrong, it's not the same filter each time

So why would they be doing different cuts each time...
Different levels and differnent hz..
Should be a set format Atleast from a single production house.

Different levels and differnent hz..
Should be a set format Atleast from a single production house.
The only person that knows that is the one that mixed it.

As dood stated, that guy is wrong...and on multiple levels. There is no such thing as automated sound mixing. There is no magical algorithm being used to set levels to "Dolby Specifications".

Back in the day I spent a few years working in a recording studio (mostly ran live sound for bands), and trust me, it's a process. Lol

[EDIT] I almost forgot...

Hey @aron7awol

I bought the Underworld Ultimate Collection on Bluray. The original Underworld is in LPCM 5.1 and Blood Wars is in DTS HD MA 5.1. Will the existing Atmos BEQ's work, or is it possible to add the Bluray's version to the list? It doesn't look the the original Underworld needed much boost, but Blood Wars might be a different animal. Thanks!
