Can't wait for this one. Just remember guys, Ford are the bad guys in this this story.

Also, it seems like the mixes on movies have been a lot better lately. The BEQs haven't been as extreme. It might just be that we haven't been getting any releases from the mouse though. I bet we see a huge filter when Rise of Palpatine comes out.

Hey, Aron

I'm at work now, but listening to some Queen songs made me remember when I first watch Bohemian Rhapsody, it was the iTunes DD+ version and I saved that particular BEQ in JRiver as it was absolutely spectacular, convulsing the couch in all the right places and amounts. But when the official Dolby Atmos version came out, I watched that BEQ'd version and it just wasn't the same immersion and quaking from my couch... it just didn't engage me as much.

And I actually remember comparing the graphs and they were actually different with apparently better punch coming from the DD+ version. I never thought to mention it on here, but to this day even though I own the 4K, I'll will continue to watch that DD+ version with the BEQ that was originally applied to it.

I was wondering if anyone else has noticed a better LFE punch from other DD+ titles over the disc lossless audio?

I don't remember comparing them for Bohemian Rhapsody specifically, but for the vast majority of those I have compared the DD+ Atmos and lossless Atmos tracks have been essentially identical. In fact, the one major difference is the the DD+ tracks contain DRC metadata, which makes a lot of people think the DD+ tracks are worse as they are unknowingly applying that metadata.

Watched Zombieland 1 and 2 last night. Pretty great LFE in #1 I particular. I liked the sequel. To be honest I have miss feelings on the first one, and in my opinion it only works because of Columbus and Ohio, they are such great characters. The females though, the characters they portray epitomize so many human characteristics I find just plain abhorrent, I don't find them likeable and it detracts from my enjoyment.

Opening credits though, #1 has the best opening credits I've ever seen, and the accompanying music is just masterpiece. And #2 is not far behind! I can't sit thru it without having a grin from ear to ear the entire time. And with BEQ and Atmos, it is magnificent. My wife was even commenting on it shaking the couch! First time she really noticed.

Thank for doing this! I just bought the Blu-ray disc for this film. However it says on the disc that it’s audio is in DTS-HD Master Audio. Would these BEQ settings still work?

I watched Now You See Me and Now You See Me 2 last night with the BEQ settings. I just wanted to say the BEQ really brought the bass moments up quite a few notches. Really added to the movies. Nice job, Aaron.

Not a ton of bass but it was used well to add weight to the cars going by. There was one scene that I remember really liking the use of surround and bass in it, especially in conjunction with my BOSS. A car was coming straight at the camera and drives by. The surrounds properly shifted front to back with the car (all the sound panning following cars was great) and when the shift happened I had a nice rumble from my BOSS right as the car passed. It gave a little bit of a feel like something actually passed by.

Excellent movie though and worth watching.

hi guys,

I spent some time reading through this thread, and the GitHub readme, and still am a little confused.

Is there a way using BEQDesigner or any ohter tool to actually modify an MKV file (or ISO, etc) itself to restore the original track?
Or is a MiniDSP 100% required?

If the MiniDSP is required, is it worth it for me since I only have one sub? (I have a Rythmik FV18 Paper Cone).
Do you recommend the 2 x 4 HD, or one of the others?

I already have a UMik and have used REW to help me place the sub.

Thanks for your help.

Yeah, there were a few moments that were great like you are describing, but there were so many other opportunities to do similar that weren't taken advantage of. The content below 20Hz was so few and far between.

Luckily the movie and the Atmos track were both so good that it doesn't really matter. Highly recommended!

You can but 7.1 max. You loose Atmos ) DTS-X. There's instructions I think in the first posts.

Sorry, stoopid newbie questions

Hi folks, I stumbled across this thread as I’m a bass nut...in particular I’d be in heaven if all Atmos bass was as good as IT Chapter 11 or Terminator Genysis etc etc

I have just completed the acquisition of the Marvel Cinematic Universe...my understanding is Atmos bass is sadly lacking in some of these movies...

First question, how does BEQ work if I’m playing physical discs? Please see equipment in my sig...is there any easy way to extract the extra LFE? Thanks folks

Thanks for your help.

I currently have only one sub (yours is way better though ), and use the miniDSP. It is WAY more useful than you'd think.

It allows you keep all Atmos/DTS-X content (remuxing via BEQDesigner does not), streamlines the filter loading process via GitHub .xml files (which is awesome!), and lastly, it's a MiniDSP! It gives you more options for tweaking your gear and adding a sweet housecurve (REW) if you so choose.

And yes, the 2X4 HD is recommended.

First question, how does BEQ work if I’m playing physical discs? Please see equipment in my sig...is there any easy way to extract the extra LFE? Thanks folks
Welcome to the thread!

All of the info you need is posted on the first page. I'd recommend starting there, and then ask questions if there is something that you may not understand. It is pretty informative on "How To", so that should help to understand what's needed to get some BEQ in your life.

Also, here is a cool article on watching the Marvel movies by order of timeline vs. realease date.

I've been rewatching them in this order and I've enjoyed it very much.

Hope this helps,

Darrell

Thanks for the link...I was going to just watch them in order of release but now I shall reconsider...Are you viewing in the links newly suggested order now, starting with Captain America? EDIT: I just see now that u r , thanks

I did start reading the first few posts earlier but I think I need someone to paint me the big picture starting with “can I just watch my regular discs” and if I can, is there a simple process to extract the proper LFE, as a start...I will go back and re read however...

With the MiniDSP you can watch via BR disc, streaming app/box (AppleTV+, NvidiaShield, Roku, etc.), HTPC, and even a regular PC. If there's a source and @aron7awol has worked his awesome BEQ Ninja skills, you can do it!

Thanks, just reread some of the first few posts...essentially I would be boosting certain frequency’s stated in the little table per title in the mini dsp software...? there could be 3-4-5 frequencies to boost per flick?

Would this be similar with what I do today with my SVS PEQ app? I can boost up to 3 frequencies to impact the bass curve...If I really want punch in the gut I boost 60hz by +5 dB...
