They're projects that are doing 4k scans of the original prints of Star Wars and Return of the Jedi. They're from film reels with some of the audio from the laserdiscs so they're the original version before Lucas messed with them at all. There's also a project 4k80 but I don't think it's been released yet.

Weird this was bought up. I was thinking today I wonder why someone hasn't done this for The Abyss. It is frigging over a decade since I've seen that now - I just can't take watching a non anamorphic DVD...

We really need a UHD release of The Abyss. With it I want the director's cut through. The movie's wiki page makes it sound like the 4k transfer was done in 2018, so maybe they'll get their act together.

Yeah I’ve thought that for two years now....giving up hope. Cameron, Fox (or whoever has the rights now) obviously could care less. There is a perfectly good 4K Director approved scan just sitting there.

Should have kept my Laserdisc player and pristine beautiful Abyss boxed set laserdisc. Refuse to watch whatever crap that is on the DVD - completely unwatchable. Stepping off my soap box now...

I put it all on Cameron. I honestly have as low opinion of him as he has of his fans. Eg, utter disgust...

Look at the peak spectrum though, it's a single hit in the entire film pretty much.

I think Dragonheart Vengeance is the "bad movie" possibly worth watching because of BEQ

I used the combination of the positive and negative shelves to boost the 20-40Hz area without boosting the already very hot <15Hz area. You can certainly go without the negative shelf, but I can't say whether your system can handle it or not. Remember, only YOU can prevent subwoofer fires!

I get (and appreciate) the joke you're trying to make, but just for the record, Pulse is very far from a one hit wonder:

Guess I never made it to the good parts. And didn't have the setup I have now, either.
I'll keep the "Server Room" demo clip, though.

Anyone seen Survivor, with Mila Jovovic and Pierce Brosnan? Watched it last night with BEQ, and it had some impressive LFE. It starts with this frenetic battle scene which was not really needed in context of the entire story, but so awesome. And then throughout the movie itself there was a lot of clean kinetic LFE.

If you have a chance, at least check the opening with BEQ for a nice reference scene.
