With more people now purchasing the HTP-1, I figure I'd do a quick and dirty walkthrough with screenshots as a fellow HTP-1/BEQ user. I know the BEQ guide discusses using the HTP-1 feature, but I was hoping this might be a little more cut and dry for those who want an easy visual guide.

Step 1: Access the HTP-1 option under Tools in BEQ
Step 2: Type in your HTP-1 IP address (leave the :80 at the end) and press the check mark box. A pop-up will then ask if your current version of HTP-1 supports shelf filters...assuming you are up to date say yes
Step 3 and 4: Choose the subwoofer EQ channel and then load your BEQ file directly from the repository folder you have saved on your computer (no alterations need to be made to the XML files/no merge process necessary)
Step 5: Press Add Filter. This will then show how many PEQ slots will be occupied (loading of filters always starts at PEQ slot 16 on the HTP-1) along with how a visual graph of the EQ response of those filters
Step 6: Press Sync to HTP-1. A small green check mark will appear once synced.

The next two screens show what two of the applied filters look like on the EQ screen of the HTP-1. Note: Any EQ under 20Hz has a red box around it as the Web GUI doesn't support going below 20Hz, however using the backdoor that BEQ Designer does allows filters down to 10Hz

Step 7 and 8: To clear the applied filters, press Remove Filter and then press the garbage can icon. This will clear out the EQ slots where filters were applied (the green box). Make sure to press Sync to HTP-1. If you go back into the EQ menu of the Web GUI interface, these slots will now be back to default.

That's it for a quick and dirty.

AFAIK, for those who want to add their own house curve, as long as you use EQ slots that will never be touched when BEQ loads filters (so start at Slot 1), they will never be touched/zeroed out when adding or removing BEQ specific filters.

Additionally: you can use the community made Preset Recorder program in the HTP-1 thread to add the ability to turn the HTP-1's PEQ on and off from a remote so that once done watching a movie you can simply have PEQ turn off (much like switching to an empty Config slot on the MiniDSP) with the click of a button.

I didn't want to force it on anyone by baking it into the BEQ, but I'd personally bump the subs by 5dB as well for this one.

Awesome! Thanks brutha!

I wasn’t sure how much content this one would have, but it looks like it could be pretty decent.

Maybe this can be added to the setup guide for easier reference?

How loud do you listen?? The only time I was scared was when I watched Godzilla with the sub some 30db hot (hint: not my usual setup).
I watched Hacksaw ridge with the EQ below, which includes the BEQ and my house curve. The super low stuff was great and I had some nice wind effects (port wind directly firing at my seat from 4' away), but the artillery could've had a bit more slam. Maybe I should adjust my house curve in the movie preset?

Edit: it just dawned on me that my longing for midbass may never be satisfied due to room issues. I have quite a nasty hole from 50 to 80Hz.

First thanks. Much appreciated.
Second. I don't know exactly what is happening in my room. One day I might go through REW but I experimented with a 6dB pseudo house curve on my outputs kind courtesy of someone on a different forum. I hoped the boost would help and it does. I wasn't hearing much difference on audio when using BEQ. I'll let you know what happens

Wow this film really is bass light. I would rather not increase the sub volume so how would I bake this into my local BEQ config?

Just put the input gain in your mDSP to +5. That's what I meant by bumping the subs up 5dB.

Ta. Now I see they made the v upper case, it is meant to be lower case! I will fix it to be case insensitive so then you don't get the dialog box any more.

Okay, this was surprisingly a really good movie. Not a great deal of ULF as you can see from the heatmap, but it does have a couple of pretty good wobble moments that's worth noting.

Thanks again for another great BEQ Aron!

Why do I keep getting errors merging with BEQ Designer? Yesterday was one, but today there are 6!

Because new files are added with the same problem

With the Preset Recorder you can also make a remote control preset to zero all upper slot dB values instead of turning the PEQ fully off. (In case you want to use first PEQ slots for your own permanent corrections.)

THANK YOU! Looks like you really were able to dig out some LFE from this anemic sounding movie. I cannot wait to re-watch what is widely considered by critics and viewers alike to be the greatest movie ever written, acted, and directed!

At least the soundtrack is solid.

@3ll3d00d I just wondered why BEQd can't export biquad txt files for miniDsp. Sounds like a convenient way for me to load BEQs than via the XML. Is it a cross-compatibility thing? Could you possibly add that feature?

As Richard notes, it can do this already though I don't know how that is more convenient than the merge tool (I don't use a minidsp though ....)

^^^ I still use the save as biquads for my 10x10HD exlusively ! It is two seconds work before each movie i watch, but it loads INSTANT to the mDSP, while the merge way takes forever to load each file to the mDSP.

I know, i am quirky 😂😂

Could've sworn I searched everything..! It convenient for me as I do my own BEQs on the fly for the German movies I watch. I have not used the merge tool and I have not looked at that yet, but exporting the biquads is really everything I need for maximum convenience. I change my miniDsp config a lot, so the XML files would quickly become outdated.

I don't know what's causing this is to happen. I'll take a look at them when I can but it's probably not going to be for a few days at least. I've been down sick with covid since the 20th and my head isn't 100% here for digging through data sets. So once my head's up to it I'll take a look.
