Looking for a new sub

Hi All,
I am looking to make a few upgrades to my current system. Currently I have an Onkyo TXNR-555. I have Polk T15, T50 and T30 for surround. The sub is Polk PSW108. I know I didn't spend a lot on this system so looking to make so upgrades. About a year ago I added Klipsch R15M as height. Kind of wish I would have gone with some in ceiling speakers but that is ok. What would you recommend for a new sub? I just feel like the current one is lacking. Looking to spend under $300 but willing to go up to $500. Room set up picture are attached minus the Klipsch. Those are on either side of the TV. I would say the room is 10x20. Thanks for the help.

500.00 would get you a much better performing sub that offers a lot deeper extension then the 300.00 stuff. SVS PB-1000 or Monolith 10 come to mind.

With a $500 max limit I'd grab a Monolith 10".

The center channel and the sub are the most important for HT. If you start with the sub, I would highly recommend a 12” sub so that you’re not back here in 2 yrs looking for another upgrade. 10” subs will not wow you in any way from my experience. Get the HSU vtf2-mk5 for a little more than $500. If you have to wait to save a little money. Do it. Its a great offering around $500. Many on here agree. The monoprice sub isn’t a bad option either but I would prefer a 12” sub over a 10”. I like the variable tuning ability of the HSU subs and it’s something to consider.

Here comes the save up crowd. Just save up and buy four JTR 4000ULF and be done with it. The Hsu VTF-2 MK5 will cost you $607. Saving more will always open more options. If 500 is the absolute max, you aren't going to beat the Monolith 10".

like @Spewdom said if max is 500 and dont want to go higher id get a monolith 10.its great sub and built like a tank. if you think might want more bass better sub down line sooner than later then id go with svs pb 1000 that way you can trade up within a year if you want something bigger/better and get full price you paid for it towards new sub as long as its like new condition with all box/packaging accesories.
IF you are willing to save up and wait stretch budget a little id get the hsu vtf2mk5.you can give them a call see if have any open box for few dollars off or if that model will be on sale again soon.

Either the Monoprice or SVS PB1000 would be a great choice. SVS makes it easy to try out with a 45 day trial period and 2 way shipping included in the price.

Also, Bring your center to the front edge of the cabinet and also pull the mains out to about the front edge of the cabinet.

Klipsch RF-62II, RC-500, RS-400, SVS PC12+,
Def Tech SC8000
Onkyo RZ820
Roku Ultra, Apple TV, Sharp 70" Quattron

I apologies for the wrong posting but my current sub is a Polk PSW108 not a PSW10.

Little bit of a difference b/w saving an extra $100 vs. maybe $14k for 4 captivators don’t you think?? A month or two vs. possibly a few years. I have no idea what the OP makes a year, but your tolerance for saving a little before buying is extremely low. Lol. Maybe the better advice would’ve been to say...”just put it on a credit card and get whatever you want.....Why wait?”

B-stock. Ultra X12 are still available for $569 free shipping. Still the VTF-2 mk5 is the better sub

But the X12 will Still outperform the PB1000 by a significant margin and have a more little output 40-100hz compared to the monolith 10

I’m a Hsu vtf 2.5 owner and highly recommend it if you can stretch your budget. I almost went with the Rythmik L12 also at $530 shipped.

http://www.rythmikaudio.com/L12.html

As everyone is saying, $500 will get you a much better sub. I learned the hard way buying a $300 sub and then stepping up after a month. It’s arguable that $500 is probably the entry point.

The top two subs <$500 would be the Monolith THX Select 10 and the SVS PB-1000. I do give the edge to the Monolith, but the PB-1000 is also a good sub ( I have both). If I had short money I would wait for a sale on the Monolith, which can be via Monoprice, ebay, rakuten etc, or I would snag an open box PB-1000 from IQ Home Entertainment (authorized SVS seller) via amazon.com for $419/shipped.

Subs>RBH I-12e/I-12. HSU VTF-15H mk2. Monolith THX 12 (x2)/THX 10(x2). XTZ 1X12. SVS PB-1000 (x2). Speakers>JBL 270/235c/230/225c, Arena 130/125c. Jamo S807/S803. Infinity P363/163. Sony CS3/CS8/CS5. QA 3020i/3090Ci, 2020i/2000c. Monolith Cinema 5 AMT bs. Polk RTiA1/CsiA4. Other Audio>Sony MDR-Z7m2, WH-XB700, XB32, XB31. Sennheiser HD58X, HD4.50, PC37X. HyperX Cloud PS4 HS.
