Replacing Velodyne

Hi,

I have a Velodyne DLS 5000R that I use both for music and movies. It is old and its cabinet rattles when I play loud music.

The music setup has:
Klipsch La scala's, Dyanco ST 70 and Dynaco PAS 3X, Technics 1500MK2

Movie setup has:

B&W CM10's
Peachtree 220SE

Any recommendations as to what can I use to replace it.

Thanks in advance

Fahad

What's your budget?

I still have my 10 y/o Velo DLS5000R's sitting behind my MLP (for rear near field duty)

I went Rythmik after auditioning Velodyne and others but not a Monolith.

Have you looked at what about the Velodyne's cabinet is rattling? May be cheaper to fix it.

+1 on the "fix the Velodyne"
We have a Velodyne DLS 5000R. It's an oldie but a goodie...The build quality is off the charts. Plus it's beautiful to look at. Velodyne was high end in it's day.
The other subs you are considering are all good, but if the amp and cone are intact and working, then the DLS 5000R can hold it's own. FWIW, it's "easy" to remove the amp and see what's rattling. I can not imagine that it would be difficult to secure something loose in the cabinet.
However, if the $ is burning a hole in your pocket, or you just want to upgrade (I know the feeling well), my recommendation would to consider HSU. As far as build quality and "bang for the buck", they bring a lot to the table. However, looks wise, they are a little bit of "plain Jane".
My $.02.

If you are music first then my vote would be Rythmik FV15HP.
If you only watch movies then no question I would go with Monolith 15 instead
