I am more a rock/alternative music listener. Both old & new music. I am about 50/50 music to movies but listen to music at louder volumes.

I'll have to get back to you on that. Once I get off work, I'll go home and turn on some rock.

How large is your room? The PB-1000 has less output across the board compared to the PB-2000, as well as slightly less extension. The output difference is more pronounced lower in range than higher in range. Did you ask your dealer what he is basing this on?

My room is about 12 x 19. But my sitting position is about 10 ft from subwoofer. My dealer never explained why this wouldn't be a worthwhile upgrade other than it wouldn't be a noticeable upgrade. I will add that I am not interested in more volume but interested in better clarity. I am only interested in music being played louder.

The larger driver and enclosure of the PB-2000 will allow it to play more effortlessly at higher volume levels, also with less distortion compared to the PB-1000. Sounds like you are pretty set on a single sub instead of duals, so I would personally move up to the PB-2000 if the PB-1000 isn't getting the job done well enough.

I wouldn't say the pb1000 isn't getting the job done but curious how much better the pb2000 would be? I originally thought I would get dual pb1000 but I am having a hard time grasping how this will be much of an improvement in my single seat setup. I keep reading how it fills all seating positions but not a concern for me. SVS does recommend 2 1000's over a single 2000. I also don't like the space requirements of 2 subs

Definitely go for single PB-2000 over dual PB-1000. If you find down the road you need a better frequency response at MLP you can add a second. Otherwise you’ll notice the better extension, higher and cleaner output.

Sorry I took a while to respond. I listened to some Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, and Shinedown. All sounded great, not overpowering, but very smooth and tight. Still managed some window shaking on some songs, but overall it sounded great.
I'm not sure I would buy this for music alone, though it does sound good. I'm also probably not the best judge of musicality.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like you don't recommend the pb3000 if music is my main concern. I may have to stay with my pb1000 or at the best maybe upgrade to pb2000.

I am now also considering the sb3000 to satisfy my music needs but wondering if I will lose something on the movie side? I am quite happy with my pb1000 for movies
