HSU VTF-2 Reliability

There is someone selling a HSU VTF-2 for $300. It is at least 5 years old.

I have a question for HSU owners. How long have your VTF-2's lasted with the original amp? Has anyone had an amp that failed. Has anyone repaired their amps? If so, can you please provide an idea as to cost.

I appreciate any thoughts.

Is the sub in question a vtf.2 mk5 or the previous model mk4? Easy way to tell is the current model has a front firing driver and the older model is down firing.

Hi. I have a VTF-2 MK4 that I am selling for $275. Not sure if it’s mine your referring to. I’ve had it for about 6 years I believe and still using the original amp. It works great and I’ve never had an issue. It was my first Hsu sub and my first real sub. It’s a work horse and has never let me down. Never had to repair it so I can’t speak to that. Only reason I’m selling it is because I upgraded to larger dual Hsu subs.

Definitely not your sub. I asked the seller. He said it is an MK2. Based on my research, that puts the sub in the 2003 timeframe or thereabouts. Unless there is something I am unaware of, that makes this sub a meh deal at $300.

No way I would pay $300 for a mk2. A mk2 is a long way from 5 years old. HSU had a duration of a few years where the BASH amps were abnormally prone to failure. Seems like it was in that mk2 or mk3 era. I would take a hard pass on this sub and buy a far superior mk5 when it goes on sale for $577.

Definitely agree with Mix Master Ice. That’s way over priced and not even worth purchasing. Not when you can buy a used MK4 for $275 or a brand new MK5 for $539.
