On a whim, I tried plugging into another HDMI port on the AVR. Now I see the AVR listed as NAD T758, but still don't get option for surround speaker configuration... Wondering if there is a setting I need to change on the AVR?

Try restarting the MacBook Pro and the receiver. Also, check that the sound mode is not set at "pure audio" or something that is forcing the AVR to play only in Stereo. You should see up to "7.1 Surround" in the Speakers Configuration menu.

I received my UMIK-1 today and when I entered the serial #, the regular and 90degree calibration file I received was in txt format. I'm using a MacBook pro, is the correct format or do I need to do an additional step? thanks

That's correct.

MiniDSP 2x4HD, UMIK-1, REW... The holy trinity for running multiple subs.

Question

excellent tutorial, many thanks. question regarding use of the MiniDSP 2X4HD - I am running a MacMini head unit with a Schitt Gungnir Multibit DAC feeding a Marantz SR7012 running in 9.2 mode. Is there an option to put the MiniDSP upstream of the Schitt and just use the DSP functionality of the MiniDSP?

First, thank you very much for posting this, very helpful.

I followed the setup and believe I did everything correctly. However, I'm not getting any audio out from my HDMI on my MacBook Pro (2013 running Catalina 10.15.1). Currently I'm only running the front right speaker from my Denon AVR and not going through the TV.

No sound via Audio MIDI Setup configure speakers. When I check levels in the REW sound card preferences I see an output signal but hear nothing. Nothing with the Generator or Measurement.

Any suggestions I might try?

Figured it out. I was running the LCR through external amps and forgot to reroute the audio signal through the AVR since I'm not using the preout for this testing. Works great now!
