Looks like a decent budget sub with amplification. Should provide very nice performance for the average user.

Nice. From the CEA2010 measurements I deduct that its frequency response is down to 25Hz +/- 3dB and 20Hz +/- 6dB.

Which is very, very nice, but 16Hz let alone 12Hz are not realistic to advertise IMO. Unless there is other measurements that say differently...

Their specs for the Monolith 15 were accurate. That sub is flat down to around 16hz with extremely low distortion and has usable output down to 12Hz. No reason to believe these specs are not accurate.

I think it's valid because while CEA2010 shows raw peak output, most of the time you will not be maxing out the sub and in that case you can opt for a different EQ (extension over output) and hit those numbers, just not at the CEA 2010 rated output.

Usually room gain means you wind up with PLENTY of output down deep, once you have a sub that has the displacement to work at those low freqs.

Yep, any way you slice it this sub should work out quite nicely.

Holy crap...

Those numbers suggest that @ 16~80Hz, The M-215 actually averaged almost 1dB higher...

The M-215 is 1.7 ~ 3.5dB higher @ 20~40Hz, but 1~2dB lower above 63Hz.

It seems it's tuned to 16Hz, so it doesn't have the bottom end like the FV25HP.

I will try to get one for review as well, just like the Monolith 15"... However, this time the bar has been set much higher...

As mentioned it was probably in THX mode when those numbers were ran, I wonder how the extension mode works. Lose a little at 16-20hz but gain at 12.5hz.

Well at $2500 it’s playing with some very serious company, SVS PB-16 ULTRA, PSA TV3612, RYTHMIK F25HP etc.

I would still opt for one of the big boys for reliability and customer service, but we will have to see what the street price ends up being, I’m sure it going to garner a lot of fans.

I read some stories about monoprice customer service but I think everybody will have an issue at some time. Out of the ones posted I would take the PSA or Rythmik.

I would opt for 2 15's on sale over this. Mainly to avoid the extra cost of back surgery.

For sure I'd go with the Rythmik F25HP for that price. for such a massive sub I'd go with a company that is proven to work directly with it's customers and will do what is need to make sure you are happy. i literally spoke on the phone with owner Brian Ding and he helped me out with my problems and questions an that's not counting the helpful emails from Enrico Castagnetti and their on forum help. you can't buy that kind of service and care.

With monoprice there is but one price.

(Their name never actually occurred to me in that context but it's true, their listed price tends to be what the actual price is.)

My 2 cents here are:

1. Priced at $2500 its competing directly with FV25HP and losing significantly below 16hz which is huge. Also for a little more it will also compete with the JTR Cap 2400 ULF

2. Monoprice will and should rethink their support and service model as packing up this size sub to send in for service every time there is an issue is a deal breaker.

At this price point its a tough sell. $2k or less may allow it to compete some

Impressive, but at that price I'd probably grab the Rythmik FV25HP. I went with the Monolith 15" because of price and performance. I'm not worried about customer service for the Monolith because contact email for Hobie Sechrest is known.

Very interested to see/read reviews and impressions for this sub, though. I've been planning on getting a second M15 for my setup and those are already 17.7" in width. 20" width for the M215 would push my speakers and subs a little closer together.

I'm sure if the result is as good as their single driver subs are, this could be a real contender (sort of). Biggest concern by far is waiting for confirmation from Monoprice that in fact logistics "are" in place so amp or driver warranty replacements exclude shipping the entire sub back. That for me is a deal breaker. They said it was in the works so hopefully confirmed soon.

That been said it will take a far bit to pull business away from the established brands with already proven customer support at this price point.
oneeyeblind and drh3b like this.

-Marantz SR-8012
-Yamaha BD-A1060
-Funk 21.0LX Master/Slave combo 4800 watts RMS/9600watts (peak)-
-Chane A-2.4 L/C/R
-Chane A-1.4 side/rear surrounds.
