building a subwoofer with a passive radiator

Cana subwoofer be built with an active subwoofer as the motor to be used with passive radiators on each side in a sealed box?

I love the sound of passive radiators. It gives layers and layers of Bass which an active aub cannot do on it's own. I want to use it in a seperate enclosure from the bookshelf speakers that I have.

Hells, I am even thinking of adding a couple of woofers to the project.

Enclosures with PR's act as ported. You can use a small box, no ports or resonance issues. You HAVE to use a driver with a motor to push the PR's.

Thanks for the info. I have a couple of active subwoofer drivers I plan to use. I am figuring two pasaives on opposite sides with one active sub in each cabinet (I plan to make 2 cabinet's since I have two sub drivers) with the active sub connecting to an amp. The cross-over will be a dsp.

Any thoughts on bracing and cabinet dimensions since it will be a closed cabinet? I know, I have to look at this more on the web for further info.

I figure it would be interesting to find out if anyone haa personal experience using a pr/sub cabinet design.

You need to download WinISD and you can model it. The link below is a cliff notes of sorts. Doing it will give you a better understanding which you seem to want. I don't have any personal experience wit PR subs.
