How good are JL audio subs

Looking into these subs... they definitely look cool.

This would be used for a large area with ambient music, it hast to play and look the part... any experiences?

They are generally regarded to be very good subs.

However, they are way, way over priced from a performance to dollar ratio in comparison to other ID options. Seaton, Rythmik should be two brands at the top of your list to consider/research as alternatives since music is a priority. Also, for the money the JL F series go for, you could get into something from Funk Audio. www.funkaudio.ca These should have no problem "playing and looking the part".

5.1: Power - Denon 4308ci, Fronts - Def Tech BP9040's, Center - Def Tech CLR 2000, Surrounds - Def Tech PM1000's, Sub's - Rythmik E15HP x2, Display - Panasonic TC-55AS530U, TT - Rega Planar 2 w/ Dynavector 10x5

I still think JL is the best performance for the size. But you pay a lot for that unless you go used. If you can handle a larger sub, then definitely check out Funk/Rythmik/JTR, etc...

JL F113 $4299 https://www.amazon.com/F113-Gloss-Fa.../dp/B00794223I
Dimension 19.25 H x 16.5W x 19.25 D
FR -3 dB at 18 Hz / 127 Hz and -10 dB at 16 Hz / 154 Hz

Very impressive for a 13.5"sub on the low end, but for one of these you could alternatively get.....

Two of these http://www.rythmikaudio.com/E15.html for ~$2750/3100 depending upon amp
Two of these http://www.rythmikaudio.com/F25.html for ~$3200
Two of these http://www.rythmikaudio.com/F18.html for ~$3500
Two of these http://www.rythmikaudio.com/G25HP.html for ~4750
One of these with slave https://seatonsound.net/product/submersivehp/ for ~3K
Or one or more of these https://www.funkaudio.ca/store/c14/Classic_Series.html

Add world class customer service on top of the 2x performance upgrade, and less or comparable cost and I know who I'd give my money to. Or who I wouldn't give it to at least.
