SVS SB-3000 Giveaway

Enter this giveaway now for a chance to win an SVS SB-3000 13-inch subwoofer (MSRP $999) in a Black Ash wood grain finish.

The SVS SB-3000 is a sealed subwoofer that produces tight, deep and effortless bass that offers linear response all the way down to 18 Hz.  It produces room-energizing power while properly handling microdynamics, for crisp transients and pinpoint accuracy. This sealed subwoofer delivers an audiophile-quality level of refinement.

"The SB-3000 outperforms much larger subwoofers and takes command of a room sonically without taking over visually." - SVS

A tangible sense of immersion while watching movies and listening to music is what you can expect from the SB-3000’s 13-inch high-excursion driver and 800-watt RMS, 2,500 peak watt Sledge amplifier. The overall performance of the SB-3000 subwoofer system is amazing considering its compact cabinet measuring a mere 15.6" x 15.2> x 15.7". Here's your chance to win one!

In a review of the SVS SB-3000 series subwoofers, AVS Forum's Jim Wilson proclaimed, "I beat the living you-know-what out of this thing and it never flinched. No matter the volume, no matter how punishing the source material, it shrugged off everything. Composed and powerful is a nice combination."

The giveaway runs from November 4, 2019 through through December 1, 2019 and will end with the at random selection and announcement of a winner after the contest period ends.

Want a chance to win a SVS SB-3000 subwoofer? We just need some basic info and you are in the drawing, so enter now!

----------
Entry in this giveaway is limited to members living the 48 contiguous states of the U.S. (Alaska and Hawaii are excluded).

I would assume Canada is included in the "foreign countries outside of the united states" statement.

I also had no idea this was a Canadian site, either... ?

I mean, I wouldn't really take issue with it if it wasn't being sponsored by a Canadian company because that's just typical of all things on the internet: very American-centric with little to no regard towards anyone else outside of the U.S. any time there's some kind of contest. It irks me a little, even, when corporations like MS or Sony hold contests or offers for their consoles that exclude Canada.

Especially if SVS has distribution and sales in Canada, Europe and other excluded countries. It stings even more when you already paid good money for their subs or speakers.

Yeah. I think some clarification is required on their part.

I've often heard Americans refer to Canada as the 51st state. Perhaps this is what it means?

This comes up nearly every contest.

While the giveaway is sponsored by AVS Forum, the restrictions on eligibility come from the manufacturer providing the prize. In most cases, they restrict to the lower 48. I believe the last to include Canada was Roku in 2016.

This is not a decision made by AVS Forum. It's the same as the last SVS giveaway in 2018.

Liked, Shared & entered & fully American but seriously I do feel for you Canadians as I am put off whenever excluded from eligibility in giveaways however I have to assume that it is solely due to shipping reasons & costs.
I mean after all it is a beast of "small" subwoofer they are shipping out & cant be cheap. Good Luck everyone!

SVS is readily available in Canada, though. I think someone even mentioned there is a Canadian distributor.

If a Canadian company is going to sponsor a giveaway, they should ensure that whatever they're giving away be available to Canadians as well.

I agree with you & I have no idea where they have warehouses I just assume they would be shipping out of their main Ohio location. As far as AVS goes it lists them as a toronto company
but also says the great lakes which could be USA and/or Canada. Again Im not taking sides but as Mike said Its up to the distributor so not much they can do I assume.

Not shipping, probably due to US laws & regulations regarding contests. I have never seen a contest for the US include any other country.

you would think they would "get " the inherent *pr*value.. and wouldn't talk to their bread & butter supporters (us) like we need lessons on international marketing ... but this is more of an advertisers website than an informational website at the server level .. that is *very* obvious

doesn't make it right .. and a little sour grapes may go a long way in changing it .. btw , i'm not Canadian, but i feel the pain.. and a Canadian website hiding behind US sponsors to the detriment of their own countymen is pure American capitalism (at it's worst), imo... ymmv..

It's a Canadian site, so those rules would be whatever rules apply in Canada... I would think. Why a Canadian site is holding contests only limited to US citizens is beyond me, and quite frankly, I don't buy the "it was not AVS's decision" excuse - there was clearly a conscious decision made to even allow the contest to occur, and it's not like they are surprised by the limitations set by the manufacturer. Even if the manufacturer is based in the US, a Canadian site shouldn't be holding contests that don't include Canadians - especially when there are 4 authorized dealers located in Canada (two of which are even in Ontario), so distribution shouldn't be the issue.

Even if the manufacturer is based in the US, a Canadian site shouldn't be holding contests that don't include Canadians - especially when there are 4 authorized dealers located in Canada (two of which are even in Ontario), so distribution shouldn't be the issue.
AVS Forum is a .com not a .ca site. It was founded in the U.S. and most of its members are in the U.S.

The company that owns AVS Forum is indeed located in Toronto but that does not make AVS Forum a "Canadian" site. Sorry you are disappointed, I'm sure SVS has read your post so message delivered.

With all due respect, whether a site is .com or .ca is irrelevant as there are several Canadian sites with .com in their addresses.

And having a greater percentage of Americans in the forum shouldn't exclude Canadians from entering contests - there's usually always going to be a greater number of U.S. citizens on any website forum, and I have been on American-owned sites that actually include everyone in their contests.

I can only imagine the outrage if the U.S. was excluded from these things.

I'm not mad now, but if AVS doesn't let me enter the "Great Quad Captivator 4000ULF Giveaway" I'm going to be pissed!

AVSForum is here to make money, ultimately. I would assume they are getting paid by SVS to host this. There are probably expenses and legal hurdles to run it outside of the 48 states. (well, not legal for Alaska and Hawaii, I'm sure they just don't want to pay the shipping to those places.)
That being said, it would be the right thing to do to include Canada in these contests.

I am guessing SVS is part of the giveaway therefore it falls under US regulations. If SVS gave AVS the sub and AVS is not American then i am sure CA denizens could enter and you could exclude us yankees.
