JTR PSA 146.3db update

Hey everyone it’s Scott here, I rarely share here I’m on the Facebook groups a lot, I just want to start this post off by saying I understand that loud lfe isn’t for everyone and yes I understand that it’s bad for my hearing... I like having some extreme once in awhile and just sharing a story with you guys 👍

As some of you may or may not know I was currently sitting at 144.9db at my main listening location, measuring with a spl lab meter that measures 20hz-120hz max hold dB at the headrest

I recently changed my JTR cap 4000ulf to a 6000ulf by upgrading the amp to the 240volt 6000rms amp and installing the new 2020 drivers

I also had one of my power sound audio amps humming badly in one of my v3611’s so I did a warranty on that and also switched that out, got the whole room back together and hit 146.3db and that wasn’t maxed out I was pretty close though I feel I got 1db left in it I will go for a Max reading in the next week or two, it’s nice having the room back together and everything tuned enjoying solid response down to 7.5hz

It’s been a lot of fun and it’s fun chatting with you guys bouncing ideas back and forth all the time...

The setup now sits at

JTR 6000 Cap
2 - PSA V3611’s
1 - PSA V3600
1 - PSA V1801
Mini Dsp 4x10hd
4 buttkicker lfes powered by 4 bridged crown xls1502’s
Klipsch THX ultra setup with 4 klipsch 8inch pro inceiling for atmos
Rotel and sunfire power amps 200x11
Marantz 7702mkii pre amp
JVC 590r projector
Panasonic 820 4K player

Curious about where you have this setup? Ever see any damage to your house besides things falling down , like cracked drywall concrete etc?

I think you need more subs... 146.3dB is a little weak. :P

But seriously,

Congratulations Scott, you have one hell of system.

Cant wait to experience it once again.

IntegraRotelGuy we must be related..

also curious if you really feel the 6000w amp upgrade was worth doing? i just ordered (3) cap 4000's with the standard 4000w amps. i asked on the jtr forum and everyone came back and said i'd only experience a ~1.5db upgrade if i upgraded all 3 amps to the 6000w version and that the value isn't there. hmm..

good to know your house hasn't fallen down yet. also, drywall cracks are to be seen as home theater achievements

edit - have you also noticed a difference with the updated drivers?

Hey man we maybe be related lol, I want to say I was never disappointed in the 4000 performance at all it’s a monster, when I seen the new driver release I just wanted to have the best/most powerful offering that jtr had that’s why I did the updates, it is noticeable during the most extreme demos but for the everyday use you won’t be able to tell at all, not sure if that’s worth it to you, there’s really not a bad decision here

Can't wait for your JTR Captivator 4000ULF's install and setup video and then the extreme demo video you will need to do as a follow up!

^^ How big is your room? How do the 3611/3600 psa compare to the 4000/6000 ULF? I don't think I have seen direct comparison between those subs in the same room yet.

I’m in a 14x16 room with almost 8 foot ceilings
The power sound audio are amazing subs I really do enjoy them that’s why they have stayed part of my setup awesome midbass and slam that they are known for, the JTR is a beast though and pretty much out does it at all frequencies and especially down low, I know psa has new offerings out and will be nice to see some side to side comparisons between all the products
I’ve been to both PSA and JTR on multiple occasions and have hung out with both owners great guys to deal with,
The jtr 4000 and now the 6000 have been the most impressive subs have auditioned and I’ve been through quite a few over the last 15 years or so

I can't even imagine how you fit all that in less than 1800 ft^3 of space, nor how you can tolerate it (although I'm sure Jeff is smiling as that sounds like something he would do himself). Isn't 145dB about the SPL on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier?

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite...
