High output, high fidelity subwoofer

I'm looking for a high output subwoofer with excellent sound quality. i prefer a passive design, but I understand they are a dying breed nowadays so I will accept other options if need be. My budget is $2,500. I prefer larger drivers in the 15" or 18" variety. Also not opposed to using a ported design if it retains fideluty with minimal port chuffing.

I probably will have to go with a dual woofer design since I don't have a lot of space. My room is 22feet wide by 16 feet deep. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Thank you to everyone for your suggestions. The IPAL subs from Power Sound look have my attention at the moment.

If you can up your budget to $3200 you'll be looking at a TV36ipal, which I can personally recommend as the both the most brutal and best sounding sub I've ever heard.

In that price range, I like Power Sound Audio's TV3612 for just $100 over your budget.
