Greetings. Trying to get one of these subs around the holidays. My space is about 17'x 29' open floor plan with vaulted ceilings that peak about 10 feet. The MLP is on the short side of the room 12.5 feet away from a pair of tower speakers near the back wall, about a foot off the wall. Let's assume 5000 cubic feet. I don't listen to my movies at reference level but eventually plan to have two of them. Size is a factor since I want to tuck it away near the couch and the Monolith seems to be taller than our sofa. I don't have space in the front for a subwoofer. The Tv is left to a corridor.

I've narrowed it down to either VTF-15H MK2 or PB-3000. Does the PB-3000 give more bang for the buck? It seems to have higher output. From a technical standpoint I know it's more than just the specs. Can someone comment on the performance? The SVS is smaller and more expensive 800 watts RMS (2500+ watts peak) vs 2000 W Short Term, 600 W Continuous.

If you could stretch the budget a bit the PSA V1812 would meet your size requirements and give you more output than the other options. That is a big room so you need as much output as possible in my opinion. The Mono is an excellent option but it sounds like you've ruled it out because of it's height.

At $1300, shipped, the PSA V1512 is worth a look:
- 15" driver
- 960W (RMS/continuous) amp
- 16-200Hz +/-3dB
- 25" (h) x 17" (w) x 24" (d)
- highly-regarded customer service

One other possible option is Rhytmic FV15HP. I found out they are local to me and I can drive up there. Might be best in terms of saving on shipping and support.

Well then without a doubt I would get the FV15HP.

Rythmik makes good subwoofers. With them being local, I think it's a no brainer.

Withe money you would save, you could step up to the FV18

If you've seen some of the measurements for the Monolith THX Ultra 15 from AVS members on this board, you'll see the sub is a monster. More comparable to the SVS PB-4000 in overall performance, but digs deeper with more authority. It has some great flexibility on how you run it with the 3 port configuration.
