Multiple 12" subs enough? Should I build out my UXL-18s

I have finished my dedicated sealed 18 X 25 room and was planning on multiple subs. I bought two of the UXL-18s and was anticipating that I would have to build these into a Marty configuration.

In the meantime I have just been using my four 12" HSU type sonotube homebuilts with either HSU amps or pro sound amps with EQ. They work great in this room and I never feel like the sub is a weak link. I also have tactile transducers and rely on those a bit to supplement since we rarely listen at anything close to reference volume.

So, anecdotes or even studies welcome. I could implement four 12" and two 18"s, but this is way overkill I think. I just don't want to build the UXL-18s and go, and not experience an improvement over what I have.

thanks in advance
