sub help needed

which sub will work well with a budget sound bar, i bought the Yamaha YAS107. It is to replace my big 5.1 yamaha system . todays values ive replaced a $2500 system with a $200 system. i dont expect much but i am pleasantly surprised so far how well it works. I am using my original and old sub which is a 10'' polk, cheapest one.. The sound bar has a phono/rca sub out and that is why i chose it. It sounds ok for the money. but the sub works better when its hooked up to the speaker out of the receiver. even the sub user manual said best results are from connecting the speaker out of the amp. i have to use the rca inputs on the sub with the sound bar. Ive found the bass to be ...and i dont know tec audio file terms. not low enough, no real rumbling of the floor, windows, cannot feel the bass. its loud enough but is boomy and not clear and muddy. Its an old sub, could be faulty too, it did cut out once a year ago, no bass at all, but it came back but has never been the same even with the big 5.1 system. time for a new sub.. so if i were to replace it with another budget sub, considering i want home theater style of bass and im not too far from that all ready. What sub should i buy? i like to tinker so im ok with adjusting and setting up LPF and gains if the controls are available.

kind regards
kev

Deep, floor- and window-rattling bass that you can feel costs money. What's your total budget? How big is your space?

Hi, a large space, the entire room is 15x30ft. its all hard surfaces, concrete floor, no carpet. The polk psw10 i have used to have plenty of bass, rattling windows etc. But it went wrong a year ago, still works but doesnt develop deep base any more. Budget, cheap. I would spend $250? i thought about getting the psw12 polk, same one but a bit bigger. so my expectations are. the polk psw10 is fine if it worked like it use too.
cheers

I see that Emotiva has a new 8" sub out. Only gets you to 33Hz, but should be a quality product for $299.

It's a VIRTUAL channel unless stated otherwise.

In that case, the well-rated Dayton Audio SUB-1200 - $150, shipped, from parts-express - will fit your bill and it will be a noticeable upgrade from the PSW10.

PSW10
- 10" driver
- 50W (RMS/continuous)
- 40-160Hz +/-3dB

SUB-1200
- 12" driver
- 120W (RMS/continuous) amp
- 25-140Hz +/-? dB

If one's not enough, add a second one for more output and better FR smoothing at and across the main listening position.

Alternatively, for $200, shipped, you could step up to the Dayton SUB-1500:
- 15" driver
- 150W (RMS/continuous) amp
- 23-140Hz +/-3dB

That sounds great, and a good price. i will look into it. Thank you.
