SVS PB12 or SB3000?

I just got the PB12 and the Ultra tower speakers after in Piano finish. PB12 sounds amazing but is huge and not piano finish . Its not the end of the world but the SB3000 is a little smaller and in piano. Do you think there will be a huge difference for the extra money or will one be better? Any one have had both, heard or have knowledge?

We will need more info. What size room? What are your movie/music percentages? How loud do you listen?

My question is how does the PB12 compare to the SB 3000 or 4000?

I cannot talk about the PB12 but I own a SB-3000 and it is quite a beast despite its smaller size... this thing goes down to 18Hz, which is a bit higher than the 16Hz from the PB-12.
I suspect that that the SB-3000 is more tighter and more dynamic than the PB-12... The SB-3000 will not as loud at the extreme low end but you will get more quality at higher frequencies.

I also own a mighty PB-4000 and I am telling you that the SB-3000 is surprisingly VERY powerful and sounds amazing.

Frankly, most people would be very happy with a SB-3000... much smaller footprint than ported models... in addition, the app makes the setup a breeze.
Depending on your budget, you could also consider getting two SB-3000s...

Have you heard a PB2000? its kinda similar to the PB12. The PB12 sound great for my ears, just wondering if the SB3000 will blow it away?

So to keep my topic going. I have the PB12 and it sounds really good just large and doesn’t match my Ultra towers in piano. What would you pick for a good movie / music sub for a 20x20 room normal ceiling heights. I currently have a Denon 4500.

1 PC2000
2 PC4000
3 SB3000
4 SB4000
5 Just keep what I have

Of those choices in that size room for primarily loud movies the PC-4000 by far. There are lots of other options outside of SVS in that price range as well with better bang for the buck if you are interested.

In that size room the more powerful ported sub the better. What is your max budget? I take it you are looking for a piano black finish? Are you willing to go duals?

While Hsu hasn’t had any new products for a while their VTF-15H MK2 sub is still considered one of the best subs at the $1000 price point. It’s supposed to be pretty well rounded in terms of deep bass, mid bass, and musicality. They have a decent finish and the triangular ports are distinctive looking.

I would also look at some of the ported options from PSA and Rythmik. I have SVS PC-4000s which I love and was floor space limited so they worked out well. If I had no such limitations I would be very interested in the Rythmik FV18 with paper cone which is a similar price. It seem to do everything extremely well and is well suited for a large space. That’s well above 1K but you had the PC-4000 on the list.
