I have dual fv18s and I use them mostly for movies should I leave rumble filter on or off?

ON, as recommended by the instructions on the quick Guide. And also having dual FV18, with the Aluminum drivers. And been mostly Movies like you, I would also set the Limiter to On. Since the recording vary so much, and some of them been on the hot side

You can turn if off unless you are playing EoT intro at reference levels. You will have enough headroom with dual FV18s to run with the rumble filter off. The limiter is the one that needs to be on all the time.

Are you running yours off? Reason I ask is I know you run yours hot and do BEQ(I do both as well).

In my open floor I’m flat to 14hz and I ran some sweeps with it off and it does make a significant improvement for me. Just a little timid on the possibility of damaging the subs.

I’m not a EOT intro at reference type. I’m running 2 port mode +8 hot with MV -10 at the highest.

Yep mine has been off since day one. No issues at all and I don't think you will either.

Yah bro got to try it.

I have a Rythmik f18 dude shared with me he had off it since he owned Rythmik 12, 15 and now thriple F18s. Now he's on low damping.

Me running Dual @2 port mode + 12db hot with MV -15 to -18 with Rumble filter off + Low damping which can go deepest with extension.

Next is to try the PEQ on mode with +3Gb Gain.

Hey Ron, yeah I have the PEQ on as well for the extra +3db at 63hz. I also have a minidsp that I have used to get a nice house curve as well as an optimized FR. That has made a bug difference in how the subs sound now.

Same dude told me to set at PEQ on as well for the extra +3db and in between at 50hz and I am going to test it tomorrow. Really appreciate his advice and yours too.

Wonder how sustainal difference since we r both using FV18. Midbass running hotter?

And volume level? I at 1 o'clock

Thanks so m appreciated Ray. Helpful bro.

Sure, no worries my friend. Do you have paper cones of alu ones? I run my bass pretty hot like +12db plus I have house curve and I use BEQ! My gains are at 2pm. Since I using minidsp to boost certain frequencies it may not be an apples to apples comparison to yours. I was shooting for a 92-94db combined spl at MLP for the subs which puts them about +12db from where Audy set them for a -10.5db trim level in AVR

Are we talking just in a dual sub scenario turning rumble off? Or even in single sub scenario? I've kept mine enabled out of fear, and generally just following directions. My second sub isn't helping much at all below 20Hz. But while my sub + house curve is hot, I don't get past -10MV on my Denon AVR.

Many thanks for u fast sharing.

Ray bro, I am running Dual Aluminum drivers

Me running Dual @2 port mode.

after AVR AccuQ done
[email protected] +12db hot

with MV -15 to -18

I got a UMIC Mik. Ray- should i get a minidsp? thinking BEQ feature and time align the subs and thinking what else is the benefits.

Yeah. Minidsp is a great tool. I would highly recommend it and especially for use with BEQ

How far you place your dual FV18s from the back wall?

I am currently placing them 7 inch back.

Am still considering to place further like 10 or 12 inch further front as i find it hard at times to adjust the back dials....

Thanks a lot.

Ron, I would let the sub frequency response determine whether it should be a little further up from the wall or not. Once you have set things up you should not have to mess with the dials in the back especially if you are going to get a minidsp. Even a few inches here or there can have an impact on the FR of the sub relative to the MLP

Rumble filter should be ON all the time. The rumble filter on the FV18 and FV25HP is set at -6dB @ 10Hz so it won't affect most movies content. Basically it's a cone excursion protection when paying EoT introductory scene.

Thanks so much enricoclaudio.
2 questions:

1. The Rumble filter OFF mode should not spolit the driver easily I guess unless for EOT opening scene.
Let say if the subs are still in warranty, the cone it should be covered I guess?

2. At @AVR +12db hot, will it be an issue if too much? I tried +5DB no kick lol.

Thanks so much for your advice.

Cheers
Enjoy HT
