With, I wouldn't take mine off. It's on the floor and someone could kick it or something could hit the driver.

The frequency of the sub is so low it doesn't matter.

Grills off because we have a cat that likes to rub edges, and imo the driver being visible looks cooler.

I voted "Without the grilles" even though my subs don't actually have any grilles as they're meant to be downfiring. But the drivers are so nice to look at.

Without. Love the way the Monolith 15 looks. I have no kids, no cats (because they're gross), and our pitbull is well trained. So I have no worries about the driver getting damaged.

I love the look of the SVS grills. Mine regularly get kicked, bumped into etc. while doing construction. So they've been amazing!

Wasn't aware of what subs you now have. I know quite some time previously, you had some Chane 18's that were lower excursion and more "pro" oriented, and you felt the low end was lacking some. I always thought the UXL's were one of the better high excursion deep bass drivers as they are a bit stronger up top than some of the others.

How do you like them? How satisfied are you with them in the low bass area, and in the mid/upper bass? What are you pushing them with?

Wow, those might be, wait....probably are....wait, definitely are, the coolest speaker stands I've ever seen!

I don't like stand mount speakers and strongly prefer tower....but I have to admit that looks *very* cool!

What speakers are those? They look really nice? I thought for a second they were the same ones I have, Def Tech SM65 but after carefully looking they are not I don't think.

I currently have my grilles on, but definitely prefer how they look without grilles. My subs however, are mostly heard and not seen. I have them positioned for the most ideal sound quality which keeps them out of sight.

My Grills are on...right now. But I like to switch it up from time to time and take them off. Depends on my mood.

And what steel grated grills are you all using that would protect the drivers from cats, dogs, kids, or anything else? My grills would tear away at a stiff breeze... IMO they offer no protection but from dust, and maybe not even that.

Some SVS subs use metal grilles that would be extremely difficult if not impossible to end up with a damaged driver.

I did have pre-Chane ChaseHT SS-18.1s w/ a Dayton SA1000, added AIY sealed cabs w/ UXL-18s and an iNuke 6000DSP, then got rid of the SS-18s. Dunno how much stronger the UXLs are at mid-bass, but deep bass is noticeably stronger. (The LFE sweep in FoTP's barrel-roll scene plays on well after the SS-18s would have choked on it.) Great subs, very happy with them. Still think that a pair of ported cabs would do better in my ~3500 cu.ft. room, but there's no urgent desire to go there just yet.

Thanks Bear123,,,, had them custom built out of Walnut and Maple. I Am concerned though once my "ported" Funk LFE's are delivered next week that i may need to upgrade my whole front sound stage to keep up. The Chanes are "very" good in their price range but thats asking a lot from them.
