Enclosure advise needed

Because of a water pipe break I had to revamp my speakers. I had a pair of mackie SWA1801's, in opposing corners(one on front wall and one behind listening position) and the sound filled the room perfect. I now have DRM18S's and they are too deep for the previous spot so I had to stack them both in one corner. More importantly the enclosure is totally wrong for the room (sealed box Im thinking would be ideal) and basically turns the small room into a bandpass box throwing all the sound out the entry. Will poly-filling the enclosure help at all or am I making things worse?
I know most of you arent trying to use PA style stuff inside but any input is welcome.

That would make the port tuning higher, so probably worsening. Is the grille removable? I cannot find a picture to see what the ports are like. It would be interesting if two ports to experiment blocking one, then blocking both (=sealed box)
