Craig Peer, I knew I had seen that gold couch someplace before. It was on the Graceland tour back in 1982. Did you buy that from Elvis' estate?

Hahaha ! It's amazing what a point and shoot's camera flash does to colors. Elvis's sofa is safe - it hasn't left the building ( Graceland ) yet !

It's more of a brownish red that looks shiny at some angles. I just make everyone wear black robes - especially when watching " 12 Angry Men " !

How much of an upgrade will be a PC12-NSD be over a 25-31PCi?
I'm thinking the PB-1000 is not going to be an upgrade, right?

Great choice and welcome to the familly , you really can't go wrong with this sub or pretty much with any SVS. Let us know how you like it.

Hey Elvis, great sofa so as your whole room .
What kind of cylinders do you have? How cylinder and SB-1000 works together in that room?

I'm such a huge fan of the cylinders! My room isn't huge and the boxes would seriously limit my placement options. The cylinders allow me to still have huge subs without sacrificing the floor space!

I had a 20 - 39pci cylinder sub ( that's the one on the right in the photos ). Really no complaints. I don't know if a PC12 - NSD would be an improvement, but adding it to your existing 25 - 31pci sub - that would be an improvement. In my case I added a PC12 Plus ! Added a whole new level of realism to the tank battle scene in " Fury ". Added a new level of " wow " to the black hole scene in " Interstellar " !!

Does anyone know if SVS is going to have a sale on labor day? I know nothing definite can be said/known so feel free to PM if you prefer that, looking at previous threads they've had sales on memorial day etc.

I've got 2 20-39cs subs that I've owned since 2002. Awesome subs but one of them has finally died on me. Can anyone recommend a replacement driver I can put in there. Or one that would be better then the original? Also would a car subwoofer work as replacements. I can get car subs for half off retail from a friend if it would work. Alpine, infinity, jbl and kicker would be my options.

You could call SVS and see what they recommend.

It's difficult for anyone to say Brand X driver is the best. It has to be able to function properly in a cylinder. I know I am really bad at Trigonometry.

They have a 60-day price guarantee. If you buy now, and they go on sale, they will refund the difference.

But they might have subs on sale in the outlet which are not offered now.

Finally got my PB 2000

Finally got my PB 2000 and WOW!! Thing thing is a beast, to say I am impressed would be an understatement. I am using it in a 26' length by 16' wide front room, that opens to my kitchen and front door entrance area, but it has no problem filling the space with bass, at no where near reference level listening volumes. My MLP is about 9-10' from where I have the sub and shakes the couch and I can feel it in my chest with heavy bass tracks, music and movies. Very glad I made this purchase, the bottom end it gives movies is amazing, everything is fuller an more alive. This may be a novice question, but why does everything seems louder and clearer, with the speakers set to small crossed at 80hz, when using a sub, vice not having a sub? My system sounds much better for some reason. I am just watching movie after movie and music listening, just to hear this thing, lol. No expert, so no expert review, just one very happy SVS owner, love this sub.

Speakers set to small and 80Hz allows the speakers to deliver clean sound by not having to reproduce freqs under 80Hz. When a speaker reproduces the bottom end, it makes the higher freqs muddy by the action of the cone.

And welcome to the family!

Thank you and thank you for the explanation. Yeah the cleaner sound is very noticeable, sounds great.

I have a SB-2000 and have a quick question. If I want to increase the volume of the sub, would I turn up the gain on the sub itself, or would I increase the channel level set by the AVR? Didn't know how each affected everything.
Thanks!

You can do it on both it is doesnt matter. It is easier on AVR just don't go over zero or plus numbers then is better to increse on sub as well. I did it on AVR increse 3db on each sub.

Are the non-DSP controlled subs the same as the DSP controlled one where you want the sub to be turned all the way up to 0db? If so, you might consider going that way and trying to back it down in the AVR.

Have you calibrated your sub using spl meter or audyssey?

May be a silly qn - if I'm using the LFE output from receiver going into line in on the sub, should I keep the crossover knob at its max? I thought the knob had no effect unless you were using the sub to manage the crossover.

Either disable or max out the xo on the sub. Let the AVR handle the bass management.

Depends on how much more are you looking for ? 2xsb1000 will be more powerful than 1xsb2000...if you want just a little more than go for another sb1000 but if you want more than a little more than get the 2xsb2000 or in that case the sb13 ultra will be better ...are you looking for more low end in movies?

It really depends on the size of your room - the SB2000 is more of an incremental upgrade. If you can afford dual SB1000, then it's worth your while to consider the PB2000, again, depending on your room dimensions/layout.

Room is 15x20x8. Yes, just a little more for movies. I really can't hear the sub in movies at all. I only have two spots for sub placement and they are on either side of my couch that is against a wall.
