I just had a look and it looks like AXPONA is in April (unless there's 2 of them?) http://www.axpona.com/

@buddhamus I've been waiting for a reply to a few emails as well (though nowhere near as long as you). I know Mark had something VERY big come up a week or so ago so he may be hard to get a hold of at the moment

I sent you a pm but the fact that your posting here basically answered my question anyway lol.......us Aussies seem to have a tough time with Mark

Yeah back at ya mate!

It can be a bit scary sending someone in another country thousands of dollars and them not replying to emails over the course of weeks (or months in your case), but Mark always seems to come through in the end.

.....on a more positive note

I was waiting to give my impressions on the SubM till I received the 2nd one (and perhaps till the 6Kw HPi+ amp arrives) as my frequency response is not as smooth with the single SubM vs the 4 x PB-2000s I had previously and I wanted it to be more "apples to apples"

I received my first SubM on Valentines day, I had the afternoon off and watched Kong:Skull Island , a few demo clips and listened to some music (and demo audio like the Danley Fireworks and Train clips).

WOW! The slow motion chopper blades in Kong sounded absolutely incredible on the SubM, as did the "Pod Emerges" scene from WOTW and the "Washington Monument" scene from OHF. The Danley clips were also fantastic. The small amount of lingering doubt I'd had about selling the SVSs was gone after this.

When the Mrs came home from work later that arvo I said "Oh my god, I'm in love!!"
She said "aww aren't you sweet"
and I replied "Not you...the new subwoofer....
......oh and you"

That's GOLD!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!. They are a brilliant sub. Mine even came more alive after the upgrade from 1k amps to 2 x 6k amps with slave plates..... For a total number of 12k watts with 4 x Submersives

yeah, got a bit of a death stare after that one

Ugh! don't tease me! I think Mark had a delay getting the 6kw HPi+ amps back in stock. My second SubM is due Friday (thanks @Mark Seaton !!!) And I'm hoping to upgrade to the HPi+/slave amp ASAP.
Really hoping the sub gets here as my daughter wants to do a Star Wars marathon, we watched Rogue: One and A new Hope last week and hopefully smash out Empire, Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens this weekend - getting ready for the release of The Last Jedi

Ugh... so shattered right now

The SubM turned up today - 2 days earlier than the scheduled delivery dare of Friday the 9th (yay!) but it appears some donut may have used a forklift blade to "nudge" the box - which of course went straight through the cardboard and cracked the black ash veneer. It may not look that bad from the picture as it all black, but it's clearly visible from a few meters away, as the veneer has lifted slightly and you can see the "white " MDF underneath. When I flipped it from its side onto its feet I noticed there's also something small loose rattling inside the cabinet. To say I feel deflated is an understatement. I sent FedEx and @Mark Seaton an email.

Should I plug it in and test it? It may just be cosmetic but I've spent $2700 AUD on it and its disappointing to see this

Yes it's real wood veneer over (I'm assuming) MDF. I'd say that's what most premium subwoofer finishes would be - Wood Veneer over MDF or Baltic Birch.
The finish really is stunning in person, the Black Oak is truly beautiful when the light hits it "just right".

Was just so deflated when I saw the damage. As I wasn't expecting it till Friday (I even took a day annual leave on Friday to be home) - so I went from super excited (there was some dancing involved) to bummed out in no time.
I was just heading out the door to take my daughter for swimming lessons when he turned up - I actually thought it was the XLR cables I ordered for the SubMersives - and the FedEx dude yells out "You order a Seaton Submersive?" I was just goddamned so excited (and rushed ) that we quickly put it in the garage, he couldn't find the second box with the grills in it and as I was running late I took my daughter to the pool and he said he'd come back tomorrow with the second box.

There should be no problem plugging in and testing.

Unfortunately, I have had this happen twice. Once on a passive F18+ and another time on a JTR Cap 2400ULF. Mark had me keep the F18+ and use it until a replacement arrived.

You are doing the right thing by taking a bunch of pictures. Keep everything as it may be needed for inspection and return shipping.

Hi Marc!
Yes I know s**t happens in transporting stuff and Mark has been great (and so have FedEx so far)

I think with some black paint pen it would be practically invisible but I'm more worried about the veneer further lifting or bubbling over time, we bought a dresser with crack in the top veneer (which we ignored as it was so small) and over time in the Aussie heat and humidity it has started to lift up and bubble and now the crack is clearly visible from several meters away

cheers
Jamie

I'd be more concerned about the rattling noise you mentioned. Who knows what else happened to that pallet during its shipping adventures.

Mark thinks that may have been the internal wiring moving around when I flipped the box over, which makes sense. I might ask him if I could open it up and have a look inside. From the early correspondence with Mark I might (fingers crossed) be able to get a replacement cabinet
It's difficult to see in the pictures, especially taken with a phone camera, but under direct light there is also a 6" long dent in the wood right next to the crack. So my money is definitely on a forklift blade used to push the box

cheers jamie

Replacement cabinet would prob be preferred if drivers and amp are fine if customs charges on the value of the import. Not sure if warranty returns come through based on tax already paid.

I hope so - as I already paid an EXTRA $100 duty on top of the GST so it wouldn't get held up in customs!

Hi mate, yes Mark has been in contact with me and has been assisting me with the damaged SubM.
Are you waiting for a replacement HPi+ amp?
I've asked Mark a few times about purchasing a Hpi+ amp with slave plate and cable and haven't heard back so he may still be waiting on them

Got a reply on Sunday, thank god lol.

He will be sending me a replacement amp which he has tested. If the same hum still exists he said there will be another option in the coming months. I have emailed him to ask when he will be sending it.

So will wait for a reply for that.

Great news!
Did he give any clues what the other option will be? an update to the HPi amps?

Quickly following up, the subs you were asking about are these new models from the Designer Series as I described above. The DS18-12 is 30" x 26" x 12.5" deep, while the DS18-20 is 20" x 20" x 23.5" deep. The DS18-20 can also be loaded as a powered + unit, but most often we expect they will be powered externally. For most of our customers here I would recommend sticking with the F18 design unless these dimensions are very beneficial. While we will offer these direct, they were conceived with system designers, installers, and integrators in mind. We run these in much smaller batches and largely per order. They will be a bit higher cost and priced with shipping included and magnetic grills optional. Art Sonneborn received the first of the DS18-20 units as seen in the link above, while the first pair of DS18-12 units are headed to the "LOGE" theater for AVS member Lasalle which is currently in construction. The whole point here is for these units to allow this level of performance to fit in places most substantial subs might not. This is a product line that will expand significantly over the coming year, including some options intended to only be used with or in unique ways with the latest high performance surround processors such as Trinnov's Altitude models and DataSat's RS20i.

While I know it's popular and fun to lust and banter over the biggest, baddest, and most obscenely sized boxes available, the right location with a very good sub almost always sounds and performs better than a big brute in the wrong place. Fitting in the right locations to help awesome projects like Art Sonneborn's room sound even better is exactly why I've worked up products like these.

MarkSeaton I'm looking for this! 12" deep, amazing. How much is it?

Hi gadgetfreaky,

These are part of our newer Designer Series planned for sale through designers and installers. If you are rolling your own on the install and setup e-mail us and we'll work something out or connect you with one of our dealers. Conventional MSRP on the slave woofer module is $2095 each. We have the single channel SS1-4000 amplifier and SS2-8000 amplifier available which can drive 1-4 and 2-8 subwoofers respectively with 1 or 2 separate signals/amplifiers respectively.
