Eventually yes 😀, but I mainly wanted independent control over each sub for easier room optimization.

Full bore I think all 4 subs would tear my home apart! I grabbed 4 to use with Andyc56's multisub optimization for the smoothest frequency response possible. Honestly I am not really a bass head!! ( gonna pay for that comment, lol) Just shooting for the most accurate natural sound possible! I do enjoy sub 20hz extension, old pier and beam construction works wonderful, it adds such amazing floor flexion! Just waiting for the minidsp to get here and I will be all set!

Hi femi,

I have 7 JBL LSR 308s for LCR and surrounds
And 4 JBL LSR 305s for atm is heights.

Hopefully later this year I’ll swap them out for JBL 708p and 705p. That all depends on how fast the wifey forgets about the sub purchase!

Does this degrade sound quality at all? Also one thing I like about the Submersive is that the cabinet is inert, does the F18 shake like a leaf when producing alot of bass? My wife likes to set things on top of subwoofers that's why I ask.

I dont have an F18 but my um18-22 drivers in 4 cuft sealed enclosues will try and go for walkies on my concrete slab in the basement (Penn Elcom rubber feet attached). Also my surround rear speakers that I had sitting on top of them would rotate and try and commit suicide off the edges at higher volume levels. If you are on carpet the walkabout problem shouldn't be an issue.

Rotating a woofer has almost zero effect on the sound, especially below 100Hz. What rotating a woofer does do is move the acoustic location of the woofer/subwoofer. The acoustic center is the center of the woofer or woofers, not the box. With a woofer on the front of a box, rotating it 180 deg moves the source closer to the front wall by the depth of the subwoofer. At a 24" movement there can definitely be differences, with differences shifting to higher and higher frequencies with shorter distance changes. In the case of the F18, it's probably only a movement of ~6" closer to the front wall and a few more inches laterally. In short, differences will most likely be measured at upper frequencies as subtle differences and not readily heard.

Any front firing woofer will have some reaction force on the enclosure. When at their maximum excursion down low, you will feel a little shake fore-aft. If you want it to be more stable, swap the included rubber feet for spikes, and you'll have a lot less motion once the spikes set in the flooring. Of course any force cancelling design will have the edge in being perfectly inert where weight of the enclosure has no impact on shaking of the sub.

I disappeared from this forum for the past month, but believe I’m ready to take the plunge on some F18s. @Mark Seaton I sent you an email to get the process going.

Thanks all. I’ll probably be back later with calibration questions

I just wanted to add something extra again.
So here is a something interesting. Normally I watch loud movies on my own. And I have the Crowson so I get extra shake from that. Well, a day or two ago I thought something was wrong with my sub. When I ran the test tone through my preamp I barely heard the sub so I started to panic. I watched King Aurthur: Legend of the sword which I like, and there some bass in there but nothing outrageous. Then last night I was still worried so I put on the test I always use to test my sub. The intro to Edge of Tomorrow. But I had another person in the room with me as well. I only had it at -18. (just so you know, my sub is on a sub platform and directly on the floor.)Boy howdy is this thing working. The sweep was incredible. The other person was standing up and they said that they felt the bass through the floor. Not only that, but they swore they saw the floor moving. I have my theater on the second floor. Now I can not confirm or deny that part but this person said it multiple times. So the SubMersive HP is still rocking my room after having it for 11 years. Just wanted to share that little tid bit.

I know I can go louder on the MV if I want so again I say, No. Not saying that I wouldn't mind... Hey now, stop putting that idea in my head. I have the perfect spot of an F2. STOP IT... . All kidding aside, I have been with the SubMersive when it had a 1000 watt amp. It is a great sub. Rocks for movies and sounds awesome for music. I have never heard the F18 but that will change in a few weeks.

OK so after you hear the F18 then I will check back in on you to see if we still would not upgrade

You know, your quite feisty and tenacious . TBH, I would be interested in hearing Mark's comparison of the two. I am sure it's
compared somewhere, but I am too lazy to look. I am going to hear 8 of them so it won't be a fair fight.

Hey Mike - very long time no type! Good to see you're still rocking that great setup of yours! Like you, I've had my Submersives for a long time (Master/slave F2 pair with the bigass UK spec amp) and they are still the only subs I have ever wanted. A year or so ago I had a problem with my amp and Mark could not have been more responsive or more helpful in swapping it out under warranty for me. Initially the F2s were in my small (10ft6in x 10ft6in x 8ft6in) 'Hobbit Theater' but now they take pride of place (albeit hidden behind an AT wall) in my new, purpose-designed HT (see my sig link if you want to know more but I'll attach a couple of pics to this post.

Also like you, my go-to demo for bass is the beginning of Edge of Tomorrow (which is also a favourite movie of mine). It is just amazing - the room shakes, the bass terrifies, jaws drop...

Great to read your comments buddy and to see that your enthusiasm is still undiminished after all these years.

The Submersives are at the back of the room, on concrete plinths about 1 ft high (to avoid problems with the vertical room mode). One is next to the rack and the nother on the corresponding location on the other side of the entrance door (below the PJ).

^^^ Just an additional point - let's not forget that the single most important component in any system is also the most overlooked: the room itself. To get the best out of whichever speakers and subs anyone uses, it is so important to acoustically treat the room. Fortunately, it is also a cheap upgrade, and even cheaper still if you DIY the panels (real easy).

Any ideas form the forum to troubleshoot would also be welcome.

Another Aussie here having a hard time getting a hold of Mark, anyone on the forum had any contact lately with @Mark Seaton, I have an issue (red port light on) I'd like to resolve with my SubM's and have tried calling and email with little luck, I know it's close to Xmas, but have been trying for a few weeks now, and basically going to miss out using these bad boys over the break.

Any ideas form the forum to troubleshoot would also be welcome.
Sorry I haven't heard back from Mark since October . Just be persistent and email him every day till you get a reply. Which amp do you have? (I assume you meant the PROT light?)

Yes the PROT light, auto correct must have got me, I have the upgraded Amp 6000W and the additional slave to run from the master when I upgraded.
