I too have noticed a great change in how well the Phoenix hammers low notes since I have given it a substantial break in period. I am really more impressed with it everyday. I totally recommend everyone giving their Epik Subs a month to break in before making their final decisions on them.

i've had mine less than two days. i want to experiment with different placements but i'm going to wait a couple weeks for break-in. even though from the sound of things yesterday, it doesn't seem to need break-in. the output is prodigious.

I haven't tested 1 for 1, I have both Sentinels running. Amazing output, I believe Chad now when he said, two have more output than a single Dynasty 16Hz and up. I would love to run a quad set-up of these but, I'm pretty sure I will be ordering another one. I just finished Star Trek and there is some awesome bass. Fun movie. I felt in back of the subs and the amps are just slightly warm to the touch. Great quality subs, build like a tank.

Tom, you are comparing 2 Sentinels to your 1 pervious SVS PB12-NSD, right? I was anxiously waiting to hear your feedback on the Sentinel. I posted a few pages back how I have a new PC12-plus and have not been happy with how it is integrating with my room. I had a smaller Velodyne DLS-3750 (it is basically like a techno savy 10" Epik Sentinel) that performed VERY well for my room, and when I put the SVS in the same spot it doesn't integrate as well into the room.

How do you have your 2 Sentinels arranged? Are they co-located? Also, what did you use to dial them in? Thanks!

Sorry in advance if this has already been discussed. The phoenix has lfe and xover inputs. I assume the lfe is for if you due your pre/pro xover and the other is to use the xover in the phoenix. Is there a prefered method? I am using the xover input which is working fine for me. I have not done a full calibration yet.

You didn't say what you are using, a receiver or pre-pro. If you are using a receiver or pre-pro with a subwoofer out jack then you would plug into the LFE jack on the Epik amp and let the receiver pre-pro do the crossover. If you don't have a subwoofer out of you pre/pro or whetever you are using you would then use the xover input on the Epik amp and ajust the crossover dial as necessary.

There are a couple of pics on page 330 showing how I have them arranged. I placed them more or less where convenient as they will be going into a dedicated theater room that is under construction. I love them so far. I could not find my Yammi rx-v2600 YPAO mic so, I got out the trusty SPL meter to calibrate the levels. I am running a few db's hot.

Thankyou. I have an onkyo tx-sr805 with a sub out connection. I will use the lfe input.

I ordered a Sentinel last week. The shipping estimate to NY was around $73 but when i checked out it dropped to $30. After seeing this, i changed my order with Karen to two but then i got a email saying that my shipping was going to be around $150. I replied back to Karen on Friday to see what is going on. I will change the order back to one if the shipping is going to be $150 though. I only have a fairly small room of around 2000 cu. ft. but i though i would buy two considering the cheaper shipping and price drop when buying two.

i watched Hot Fuzz on blu-ray with my Sentinel today. this movie is plain nuts. it has all the random unnecessary bass one could ever want.

i played it at -12 and it was quite enjoyable. very loud and very room shaking. sounded like i was at the theater (a good theater).

I just watched Transformer:Revenge of the Fallen with my new Phoenix and all I can say is dam. The LFE was outstanding and my stomach is still queasy from being punched so hard by the sub. Never a hint of disortion. What a sub.

This post excites me greatly for two reasons:

1. Since the release of the trailer, all signs have pointed to 2012 as having the potential to be one of the best LFE movies ever. Your post confirms this .

2. I'm very interested in your comparison of the Dynasty to the A7-450 (I'm assuming that's the sub you're getting). Not that I'm considering either at the moment, but it'd be nice to get a comparison of the two. I don't know of any people who have heard both - much less in the same room.

Keep us posted!

HAHA! The main reason is I want to wait until I've got these dialed into my room as good as I can first. I havn't really had all that much time to experiment with placement, the spot they are in now is good but I've walked around and found spots that are much better. I've got a large and bad mannered room though.

Quick question for you though Tom, are you running your HT on a dedicated circuit? I'm just wondering if I added two more if I'd start tripping breakers!

a 15 amp breaker can handle 1800 watts.

a 20 amp breaker can handle 2400 watts.

running 2 all out along with a TV, PS3 and an AVR will put you right around the limit of a 15 amp breaker.

running 3 all out along with a TV, PS3 and an AVR will put you right around the limit of a 20 amp breaker.

No seperate circuits. I will be doing that in my dedicated room though.

I'm running a MFW with my Conquest and it does improve the overall bass. Looking to add a 2nd MFW to complete the HT.

How does one go about hooking up a 3rd subwoofer. Right now I have a Y out of my receiver and then going to each subwoofer. I was thinking of daisy chaining the 3rd but, the Epik amps only have two inputs?

Thanks.

Run the Y like you have right now. Then a Y off of each lead from which you have now which will give you 4. You will only use 3.

Another Y, Each Y creates 1 new output.
