I think what people are missing is that these releases are regional. MNE is not authorized to sell the majority of these movies in the US. To see a list of movies MNE can sell in the US, log into an account on MNE's website.

I do think with the invention of ebay and global markets, there will be no problem getting all the HD VMD movies in the gray market, but then you wonder about what the dialects and options will be and makes me think of the issues with import HD DVD's.

Here are the list of all US available HD VMD's:

I'm officially an HD VMD fanboi.

Exactly right. What the...?

But according to most here, there is nothing to lose by investing in a soon-to-be obsolete format.

I predict HD VMD will sweep the globe and rule supreme!

Yup, that agreement with NME came to a grinding halt.

So...DOA or what?

Ouch. I'm not a native English speaker but even I understand that it says all region codes ergo it's region free for the viewer.

Yep, they are gone. I guess all those singing-dancing Bollywood "hits" sold out all the players in Bangalore...

Orders not shipped in 30 days on Amazon have to be canceled, I think they removed them because they knew they couldn't make that timeframe.

I know my order was to automatically cancel out but did not, after numerous calls to customer service, they still were not able to cancel it, but NME canceled it once I requested them to.

So I'm off the HD VMD band wagon.

I talked to my NME contact today, and they have pushed back their launch to after Christmas.

I guess it just wouldn't be a true HDM format if it didn't arrive a year behind schedule

Fine with me, I don't watch Bollywood movies anyways. If HD VMD catches on in India and China, they'll all be pirating HD VMDs instead of HD DVD and Blu-Ray discs, which is great for everybody.

If you meant "everybody" = Hollywood studios and their ilks then you are probably right.

Otherwise I can't imagine why would a sane person think that everybody benefits from prolonged total control and monopoly.

I hope this doesn't come off sounding condescending, but with all of the quality-control issues that still plague some HDM titles on HD DVD and Blu-ray, the idea of HDM from countries where boots, and VCDs sit on the rack right next legit pressings doesn't sound all that promising.

I have tried to contact the company that markets VMD a few times and so far I have yet to get any info out of them with regard to:

- their announced PC-drive
- the availability of players
- the availability of software
- specific questions regarding the sources used to create the discs
digibeta has already been mentioned and it has been the only format available not only for some Bollywood movies but also for El Cid.

I will post info I get in this thread - if I ever get any.

Oliver

I'm sure both the blu and red sides want to release Star Wars.

What's there to know? You've got two useless bits of plastic. If you want to waste time and money tracking down a player as a purely academic practice go for it. Although it seems like this format never even got an official launch.

If you have a blu-ray or hddvd drive for your pc maybe stick them in that and see what happens.
