lumagen cih tech tips 16 doubts
i own a Lumagen XE3D and after many years i just bought a second hand screen SI black diamond. before i had a 16:9 screen. i am used to watch 2,35:1, 16:9 and 4:3 (laser disc) movies on this screen.
i read Lumagen tech tip 16 to configure the processor to easily deal with the different formats.
I don't understand why none of the first two methods do not consider:
cropping 12% top and bottom for 2,35:1
shrink digitally the zoom when contents are in 4:3 and 16:9 format to fit the height of the 2,35:1 screen.
in the fixed zoom method they write to shrink the image 12% top and bottom and then set every sources to 16:9, and then use the format buttons on the remote to adapt the image previously shrank to expand it to fit the width of the screen. it seems to me that fixed zoom method modify twice pixels instead of once according to my idea.
can anyone help me to clarify?
