Question Signal loss on TOSLINK wall plates?

I want to run about 35ft of toslink through my walls. I've already got a 40ft run of HDMI which passes through an empty keystone, since HDMI can be really finicky at these lengths. Should I be considering the same thing for the toslink? Maximum runs seem to be 50ft so I've got a little room to play with, but I'm wondering if anyone has any hands on experience with this.

If I could find 40ft CL2/3 rated toslink cable I'd be more open to running passthrough, but as far as I can tell for toslink my options are either 35ft or 50ft. Of those two, the 35ft + keystone plate seems much cleaner to me than a 50ft pass through, so long as the extra connections don't screw me over.

edit: Sorry, this should have been in General Home Theater & Media/Game Rooms, if a mod can move it.
