When I clicked on the link it showed $79. Is there a special code?

Whats your point? The link states $49 in store only...so if you can finnd one locally that's the price. If you have a problem with that take it up with Walmart!

The key word is SELECT STORES. Some stores in my area are showing 79.00 and some are showing 49.00. You must pick up from the select store and or stores for the 49.00 price.

There's a thread on Slickdeals on this player. Brickseek was accurate for me. It showed $49 at all stores near me that had stock. Some stores show $79 -99 while in the store. But a quick price check in store should reveal the discounted price.

There are a few the have reported $25 for them. No reason not to find that feasible.

Bought one yesterday for the 49.99 price, it's in store. The one I went to still had the sticker price of $199.99 on the shelf but when I went to the clerk register it rang up at$49.99. So you just gotta search and look. Way better of a player compared to the next cheap 4k player which was a Magnavox one form Best Buy that was priced at around 69-79.99

picked one up today; the store I went to has three left on the shelf; and there are multiple stores in South Florida listed with more than three in stock. Gonna pair this with the LG OLED in the living room; and move the Phillips player currently there into the movie room with a Panny Projector. Very close to upgrading the projector to one of the faux 4K under $3k models; so the Phillips (with all its apps) should pair nicely with one.

Thanks,

The UP870 has no apps. I picked one up tonight after work for $49. It's a really wide player, reminding me of the early Blu-Ray players when they first came out. Like older LG Blu-Ray players, it doesn't have Cinavia protection when playing movies off USB. That's why I stick with LG.

The two local Walmarts are out of stock. It is showing as $79 on Walmart dot com. What is the consensus? Seems like a pretty good buy. However, for that price, perhaps it's better to wait for the next gen players at $100-150. Thoughts?

Does it do bitstream? if it does bitstream - your AVR should be decoding DTS-X so it would have to support it. Right?

If it bitstreams, then I don't see why it wouldn't. Even ancient blu-ray players can output Atmos/DTS:X since it's depending on your receiver to decode it anyway.

Which actually makes sense. Seems that pretty much any 4K TV already has the smart functionality already baked in, so I've always found the apps on players to just be redundant. Sometimes one may prefer one interface over another so there's a case to be made for apps on a player, BUT I'm totally fine with the lack of them on a 4K blu-ray player....especially at $49!

No Dolby Vision upgrade coming for this player either
Have to jump to the 970 model for that

But for $49....its a winner

Bingo.

Since most of us don't have DV displays anyway, I'm ok with that. And man. $49? I still can't quite wrap my head around that. Now there is ZERO excuse for people to not have a proper 4K physical media source for their fancy new 4K TVs.

I cannot begin to tell you how many customers I've come across who have a gorgeous new 4K TV and are still rocking their old DVD/VHS combo player. Using composite RCA cables. Then they ask why it doesn't look so good? Equally baffling is after a full explanation, how many of them refuse to upgrade so they can remotely take advantage of their fancy set.

If your store has these in stock for $49, keep an eye on Brickseek for a price drop. These will possibly drop down to $20 and even $10.

I picked one up today.

It wasn't on the standard shelves, but the floor staff said he showed 6 in stock like Brick Seeker. He called stockroom guy out to check the back, Then they brought over the assistant manager of the store to see if he could find it. He started trying to find inventory at other stores, but then my buddy happened to see it in the premium component cage behind the service desk.

As we were there checking out, another guy came into the line with his brickseek app open asking for one too. It's on slickdeals, so don't expect the inventory to last long at this point.

Because they couldn't find it, quickly, and it took 30 minutes of them looking, and because my friend was the one that actually saw it in the cage, the assistant manager gave us another $10 off each.

So $40 for a UHD 4K bluray player is a score! Thanks for making this thread @DrewB , and pointing to my attention!
