Decent enough list, but very short.

No Monitor Audio, no Revel, no PSB, no Dynaudio, no Wharfedale.

All available with $10/box returns within 60 days from Crutchfield.

I would take these over anything on the list

https://www.accessories4less.com/mak...ck-pair/1.html

They're re-certified, so probably don't qualify.

Use to have these, 2 pairs. My Totem Rainmaker is much better not by small margin. And my Veritas is much even better than rainmaker.

Maybe this category needs a part 2 since there are sooo many options.

I know Steve was going with stuff he's heard, but I bet even then there's a part 2 easy... @Pitbull0669 what do you think? You got six more at this price point range? We could post a part 2 on the homepage and link it here.

The price mentioned for the Elac UB5s is incorrect as well. They're only $500 MSRP. The Uni-Fi Slims are $750, but the only different is a slightly taller yet slimmer cabinet and a nicer finish.

Actually that's my bad... I left out the "slim" in the description, but added it back it. Good point that you can get the same sound for less $ if you are willing to accept a squatter speaker with a less appealing finish.

Good list. However I don't recall seeing many offerings from Jim Salk at <$1K...
If you expand the price level to $2K+, then Salksounds would be my pick of the litter

I have not compared them to the other mentioned brands, but I am very happy with my Monitor Audio Silver 2 bookshelf speakers. There are some very good deals to be had on the last generation Silvers that make them a high performance to cost speaker, IMO. I expect the new Silver speakers are even better.

I have a pair of Salk Surround 1 bookshelf speakers in my bedroom 2 channel. I use a 12" sealed 100w sub for the low end since they are all-in at 50hz, maybe sooner. They sell for under $1000. I didn't buy them new but I had considered it a few times, after owning the Song Towers for 4 years. Alas, the Song Towers got be out by a pair of Polks. At any rate, the Surround 1's are very decent speakers. Very solid build and sound.

Good to know that he offers bookshelfs. Sadly, I have not been to Salksound in quite awhile...After chasing down the "golden ear speaker" rabbit hole for decades...Years ago, Jim custom built our front soundstage L/C/R. They are an MTM design with top shelf ribbons and 8" mids. To hold costs down, he used a piano black finish. Even so, they were still a pretty penny (HT humor), but worth the investment in every sense of the word. Jim Salk has a sure cure for the most common AVS disease, "upgadeitis". Almost all other aspects of our home theater(s) have had numerous upgrade cycles, but the the Salk mains still anchor the show. They are works of art that work.

I love my Emits but would urge anyone considering them to demo the M10 and M20 against one another. They are notably different in terms of bass and you’ll either love or hate the bigger M20 for your own taste/needs. I ultimately went M10 as my sub doesn’t necessitate the bass of the M20, but they’d be great for someone limited to a true stereo setup.

Ah, yes. GoldenEar speakers sure do sound good.

Interesting point. Future lists will likely not be one person's opinion but instead sourced from AVS community and also review roundups from credible sources.

The feedback has been great, everyone should keep it up.

NHT C-3 at $325 each on Amazon would trounce most of the speakers on this list.
