at a Magnolia Best Buy in Oklahoma City, I got the last one. I was eyeing one in Tulsa at $1199 last Saturday as it was the last one they had in stock and I had an hour to kill today over lunch in OKC. The salesman said they had one in stock and he couldn't believe they lowered the price so I snatched it up.

Did you get the sense this price was in their system nationwide for any locations that still had that model in stock, or was it a price that an individual manager chose to sell at?

By definition 50% of people are below the median.

Well, I got the last one in their inventory. I've been shopping the Best Buy by my house in Tulsa and last Friday they had one in stock at $1,199. There was a guy in Oklahoma City selling a new in box SR7013 for $1650 and I was planning on talking with him this week but never got a chance. I had an hour to kill in OKC so I stopped at the Magnolia Best Buy and he had one in stock. When he confirmed it was in stock, his face lit up and asked me to wait a minute as he thought there was a typo and had to check with someone on whether he could sell it or not. About 10 minutes later, he said: "Man you're getting a deal here" and I walked out with it. Not really sure what to make of it but for that price I was good. It's replacing a Denon 1912 and I've got a set of Tekton Impact Monitors on order that I'm planning on replacing with my Mirage FRX7 series.

Best Buy store here claims that model does not even show up in their computer system. Which I don't necessarily believe.

Believe it, doesn't show up in the system because it's an older model.

So there's no way for them to check if they have one floating around in the back unless someone physically searches for it; and no way to look up what stores in the area still might have one on hand?

I ordered one in the store on 10/30. Order was eventually canceled by Best Buy. Awesome deal for you!

There were two listed in their computer when they checked. There was something that made the salesman wonder if it he could sell it or not. Another salesman close to us over heard our discussion and confirmed there was two back there but he thought they were sold and committed to a multiroom project. The computer listed the one that was available last week in the Tulsa as sold. I think your best best is go to a Magnolia near you and check if you have one local. This is really the first Magnolia sales person I actually enjoyed working with.

1199.99 seems to be the official clearance price, both Crutchfield and Amazon, at the very least still have them in stock.
Congrats to the OP for getting a heck of a deal!

another option is Amazon. They have options for Like New and I got the one from Sound Distributors @ $869. I got the 7012 yesterday and it's brand new. I think they are just getting rid of excess inventory as they move on to SR7013. World Wide Stereo sells for the same price. Both are authorized distributors.

Those sold as "used - like new" on Amazon most likely will not have the manufacturer's warranty... It doesn't really matter what condition you received the goods in.

Yup. From what I've read on AVS, Denon/Marantz is really hard core on their warranty. I would only buy new from an authorized dealer for an expensive AV receiver. They are too complex. As a matter of fact, I had an x4300h go bad, fixed and sold on ebay, as I had two for a while.

Congrats.

That receiver is a powerhouse, and absolutely beautiful. Reminds me of the super high quality construction
of Japanese HiFi components during their heyday in the 1980s! I wish other companies would think hard about
looking back at design and construction of even middle line components during the 80s and invest more in quality.

Enjoy it, and maybe post back with an update on how you like it!

I am impressed so far, but my new speakers and additional sub will be here tomorrow and that's when I will push this receiver. Definitely a stronger force than the Denon 1912 she replaced with my existing speakers and the Audyssey32 is quite an improvement than the version on the 1912. What I am most stoked about is the fact that I can now used my SACD player since I have analog multichannel inputs. When my Sony DA5ES died, I got a great deal on my Denon 2200 (1/2 off) but it didn't have analog inputs so the sacd just sat. In 5.1 movies, theres definitely a difference in clarity and punch at louder volumes.
Aesthetically, I totally agree with you as she's solid, heavy and clean looking.

Nice. In March I got one of the 'refurbished' SR7012 off ebay seller 'listenupwarehousedeals' for $865, combined with a 10% ebay promotion, so paid $778.50 plus tax. It arrived, sealed box, clearly was new and not refurbished. You have to jump on those deals when they arise.
